First: The rooms are comfortable, big and very clean. With the right room you have a great view to the Bund. Second: The location is not a crowded area - means it is quiet but to go out you have to drive with taxi or metro. You reach the metro in 5 minutes walk distance to get a quick access...

The Hotel itself is quite nice, modern, gym and swimming pool are large, new, refreshing but it's not located On the Bund at all. So, you'll have to walk 15 minutes or take a taxi to get to the Bund. I felt disappointed as staying on the Bund was our goal. They should change the Hotel name.

The hotel is beautiful, rooms large and comfortable. Service good if a bit stiff. Not a particularly walkable locale but that is apt to change soon, prices will surely go up then. Taxis in Shanghai are cheap so location not really a big deal.

So glad I listened to my travel agent and stayed in this hotel although it is in the North Bund and not close to the Central Bund shopping area. We had a corner room with windows on 3 sides and have distinct view across the river. The room was huge with comfortable twin beds, good seating area, writing desk plus...

We came to this hotel from a very successful visit in Beijing(see my Beijing report) The hotel is a five star establishment set in the slightly run down port area of the North Bund. Its a 25 minute walk to the Central Bund and shopping area, but to be honest Taxis are so cheap get the reception to order one...

I would have given this hotel 5 stars but for the location. Yes, it is close to the International Cruise Terminal, but there are not a lot of places to eat (yes the hotel has 5 places but.....). It is close to a subway stop so travel is quite easy. The room and service were all 5 star! We had...

Great food, great selection for breakfast, rooms very clean and tidy, my only complaint is the the Hotel has two sections, a rebuild is the newer section and is a bloody pain as its designed like a maze and takes 10 minutes to the ground floor but the old section above reception is great. One street from the heart of...

Our first trip to Shanghai and our high floor room overlooked the beautiful skyline--glamorous at night. We could walk along a park along the river. A short cab ride to the Bund, the wide boulevard of walkers and to the French Concession. We felt at home. River boat traffic, opps for photos, comfortable lobby, upmarket, we would stay there again...

This was our first hotel for 10 days tour in Shanghai, Beijing and Kunming at China. we checked in there at around 12 midnight. Only one staff was sitting at the reception. We didn't find any other person to help us in managing the luggage. The room was clean and ready. The breakfast was delicious but same all the day....

First hotel of our 2 week trip. Very nice hotel. Staff were good considering the language barrier. Rooms were of good size. Very yummy breakfast with good variety. The big spoiler is our room wasn't ready even though it was well after check in time. We weren't offered a drink while we waited. I brought two coffees (without knowing the...

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
