After having stayed at the New World hotel in Beijing it was never going to be easy for a contender to even come close to the level of service we experienced there. However, though we were not upgraded to executive status like in Beijing, it's difficult to say anything directly negative about the Shanghai Marriott hotel and our experience there....

We had a 2 night stay in Shanghai and chose this hotel due to its location and free internet. It was fabulous. The rooms were spacious and beautiful. The staff were excellent and the service was great. Our biggest concern as new visitors to the city was finding the best way to get from the airport to the hotel. The...

Stayed here last year with satisfaction! Highly recommended my colleagues to stay here for 4 nights as one of my colleague couldn't get room from Le Grand Meridien. However, I'm a bit disappointed to their overall services this time. No warm welcoming, no smile during the checkin process, when I asked the service guy met outside of my room to...

A belated treat for my spouse's 48th birthday. We went ballistic on our stay. Shanghai was crowded on National Public holidays for sightseeing but the skyline accommodation allotted, stole our hearts and compensated our unpleasant shopping experience. Full excess to Executive Lounge was another steal (paid). Sincere reception, genuine attention and warm ambience to dine there. An excellent experience! SMHCC...

I had chosen this hotel for its location and cost effectivess. Shanghai was going to be our last of a three city holiday with my wife. I was a little nervous of the brand - we had used the Marriot once before in the USA and whilst it was not a bad experience, it lacked character and inspiration. So Shanghai...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
