We stayed at this hotel as part of a Viking River Cruise Tour. Our room was lovely. I would have liked to transport the bathroom to my house. The staff is very solicitous everywhere you go. We had breakfast at Tables with a buffet that had a varienty of food both Western and Chinese. Outside the front door and to...

As usual once I've to choose a location in Shanghai, the "Potama" is the choiche. A nice luxury accomodation, an incredible fine service, only incredible rooms and all what's needed available. Not secondary the position in Shanghai Nanjing Lu is the final completion for. A must, absolutely.

This would have to be the most impressive hotel service experience I have ever had, the only downside I could fault was that I couldn't stay longer. This was my first time in shanghai and the faultless airport transfer was a welcome sight after 14hrs travel. when i arrived at the hotel, I was greeted and taken straight to my...

I had the pleasure to stay there for 2 nights and all I can say is I didn't want to leave! For starters the location is very good . Right on Nanjing Road West, many places to shop and eat and the walk to People's Square or the Bund is very enjoyable. If you don't want to walk, taxis are...

It has been a long time since my last stay. Not much has changed. Still fantastic service and quality. Free high speed wifi access which is important. Can't beat the hotel's location on Nan Jing Road.

Quite possibly the best hotel in Shanghai, and many other cities. No detail is missed, and the service is beyond reproach. Everything is done to make you happy, and the most demanding will find this facility completely perfect. Its great when the entry staff recognize you and know your name. They are that good!

The Portman is a very nice place to stay. The staff are very caring and helpful. The hotel's location is in a nice neighborhood. There are several moderately priced places to eat nearby. A City Market grocery store is located just 100 ft from the lobby. The train stations are about a 10 minute walk away. The hotel has a...

Hotel is impressive, as usual at the Ritz they attend to every need. The rooms are average size for Shanghai. Great toiletries from London! They leave 4 waters in your room every night which is essential in a country where you can't drink the water. A Starbucks next door tops it all off.

The room was fantastic with a huge bath allowing me to have water up to my nack and my legs fully stretched out, a comfortable bed by Asian standards and amazing attention to detail with every aspect of breakfast, service jn the...

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
