Inefficient and basic hotel the location is far off the city centre and for 100US$ a night i would expect a working aircon and a fridge in the room which was missing, TV was only 1 english channel so forget a late night HBO.
nice comfy room. good stay. location not too central but ok. have a free laundry and dryer on ground floor. however not pleasant laundry experience as my laundry was taken out by other guests before it is dried
Good location, staff friendly and attentive, currency exchange in the lobby but good luck getting the A/C turned on when its hot or getting more than three tiny ice cubes in your soft drink. The breakfast buffet is good but for a five star hotel...More

History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of
the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
