Choosing a neighborhood BEFORE visiting a city is always a gamble . This time I gambled right . The hotel is right on a subway line 8 DASHIJIE and only one stop from People's Square . You can actually walk to the Xintiandi or to the Yuyuan garden and the old town - or East Nanjin Road - or the...

The hotel locate in the very center of town with subway station right beside. Easy Access by both subway and cab, more over it is not too far from Shanghai Railway Station. The room is neat and clean, good renovation of the old antique building. The breakfast is very disappointed, low quality and very few varieties. The street right behind...

great rooms but a little hot. We visited in December 2016 so it wad cold but we had no way of turning down heat in room. Breakfast was good and consisted of some western food. Close walk to the Bund and East Nanjing Road but away from the crowds. A good place to stay

When arrived at late night, first look out of the taxi I thought this hotel looks old and dummy. But as soon as you enter you notice that all parts are renovated and well equiped. This is definitely an old historic building and feels great to be part of it as a visitor. My room was pretty large and clean....

Right across the street from People's park in a 1930s renovated YMCA building, nice rooms, very clean. The staff was helpful, spoke English well. The ground floor lobby is not impressive however the second floor is very nice. Breakfast was nice. A solid, clean affordable 3-4 star hotel.

The staff is very nice, although they have limited English. Expectations of the level of service, in general (but not always) compared to western standards, must be lowered. Tipping is not a common custom so that removes some motivation. They get paid the same regardless of their level of service. For example, when I approached the desk for a simple...

Nice and Quiet Hotel in a good location. Air conditioning very cold. Very near the Shanghai Metro station and lots of shopping, entertainment and restaurants nearby. There's a City Super supermarket about 5 mins walk from the hotel and a few Family Mart convenience store in the vicinity. English understood by the front desk. Would have given a 5-star review...

When researching the area it was clear for a good location it was expensive. I found this hotel and thought it was a good price for the location. 10 mins to people squire and 20 min walk to main shopping Street and 30 mins to the bund. Hotel check in and staff were good. Reception was basic but OK. Room...

This is a small hotel, but is very central, reasonably priced with excellent amenities. One of the best things for me after nearly 8 weeks of travelling (and the oppressive heat of Shanghai over the last week) was the proximity to the Metro. The beds were very comfortable and the staff are excellent - although some variability in english-proficiency -...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
