I've been there one night. A good Hotel, nothing special: a pretty old facility with few options for dinner and the main top floor restaurant closed with no information about it. We had a business lunch at the buffet: no menu a la carte available. Food ok. Just ok

Stayed for 3 nights as part of an organised tour. Room was large & comfortable. In room facilities good with a range of plug sockets. 2 bottles of complimentary water were provided each day. Wifi was free and fast. Breakfast included a wide range of choice for westerners. There are 2 metro stations within easy walk which connect to the...

We stayed in this hotel as part of a tour, so we didn't choose it ourselves. The room had all we required for our stay and the bed had nice linen and was very comfortable. The room didn't have much of a view but as we were only using it as a base it wasn't a concern. The major novelty...

Nothing to complain about in this hotel. Professional staff, very good breakfast with everything" to choose from. Both Asian and western. I think the room has the best beds we have ever had in Chinese hotels before. Even so, I find it a bit impersonal and machine like. It is very big, and you don't get the feeling that the...

This was not my first visit to the Jin Jiang Tower hotel. The hotel has been around for quite a few years, but maintains and excellent ambience, with quality rooms and service. The hotel is close to good restaurants and shopping. In house dining is aIso very good, with a high quality breakfast available. f you are looking for good...

No denies that Jing Jiang Tower is a 5 star class hotel. The decoration, tidiness, the food... They also gave us a BEAUTIFUL room with a view to The Bund, per request, on the 25th floor. The room items, vanity kit all impeccable. The pillows were uncomfortable and the decor lacking... But the most annoying thing was how rude the...

The hotel lobby smells great from the fresh cuts of flowers. It could have been one of the luxury hotels in Shanghai since the 90's but it seriously needs a infrastructure make over. Our shower leaks into the bathroom badly and precautions have to be taken so we wouldn't fall when stepping into the bathroom. The first night we stayed...

This was my first trip to Shanghai and I found Jin Jiang Tower a pretty good business hotel. Service is OK, rooms very comfortable, breakfast does not have many western options and staff not speaking English. It is close to many attractions. Recommended.

I originally had a regular room on the 14th floor. It smelled like cigarettes and my grandmothers apartment. Looked like it too. I asked to move rooms and the staff was very polite and upgraded me to a "deluxe" room on the 21st floor, directly above the original room. It was a big difference. Even the hallway looked nicer. The...

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
