local friend suggested the hotel...it was great. Staff was friendly; reasonably good English; great facilities, rooms, linens and three restaurants. Almost a boutique-sized hotel, so not as impersonal as many of the chain hotels. High four star quality. General Manager grew up in France although...More
Their restaurant offered very nice food, absolutely love it. We had deluxe suite, and the room was spacious with quality furnished. The service was very bad, especially the room attendant, she was just so rude. Anyway, I think I will be back only for the...More
I stayed at the Royalton for a business conference so the location was not really by choice. The Royalton is located in the western part of Shanghai, quite far away from the usual tourist sites, though the metro station is only about 15 minutes walk...More

The residential and commercial areas around the beautiful grounds of Zhongshan Park have never been considered particularly fashionable by a majority of Shanghai’s foreign residents, but plenty of expats do choose to live here. The park itself is a huge draw, providing a pocket of serenity in the middle of the metropolis. The area has its share of trendy shops with wares that can’t be found elsewhere, delicious
restaurants with food ranging from fancy to affordable, and great hidden bars. Rents are also cheaper here than in other neighborhoods with the same conveniences. Aside from the obvious attractions, with its neighborhood fix-anything shops and pop-up street stalls that sell anything you need, you’ll never sacrifice Western comforts.

Cheapest transport : Take underground/metro line (Line 2) from Pudong Airport (PVG) and get off at Zhongsan Park Station (22 stops). The journey may take approx. 70 minutes and it will cost less than 10 RMB.
Once you are in Zhongsan Park station, go up to the street level, waive a taxi and show the hotel's address (printed in Chinese character; visit the hotel's website) to the driver. It will be 10-15 minutes drive to the hotel in a normal traffic condition and it will cost less than 35 RMB.
If you take a cab from PVG to the hotel, it will easily cost you more than RMB 200.
Have fun in Shanghai !
