Pros: Spacious room with trendy deco. Reception team is very helpful. There is a 24 convenience store and many restaurants just around the corner. Price is a bargain for the standard (I guess it is because that they don't have a gym or swimming pool) Cons: Bathroom is really dark and I found it hard to put make-up on. Not...

When you travel regularly you start to find special places in each city that are just a cut above the rest. I have been to Shanghai a few times but this is my new "special place" It doesn't get much better than this, value for money it must be the best I have ever experienced. Its real 5 star hotel...

We spent 8 nights here and loved our room. It had 2 bay windows and from these you could see the Pearl Tower and the other tall buildings which provided great night-time viewing. The staff were always very friendly and dealt with our problems over heating in the room well, although they could not get the English speaking channels back...

Very spacious room/suite, modern but cosy design. Helpful and friendly staff although except for one of them who spoke decent English, communication was barely adequate... Lighting in the bathroom was dim. Too dark but otherwise nice. Still, excellent value overall.

I have been living in this hotel only one night. But the design and overall constitution of this hotel is wonderful. The price is very fair...the food at their restaurant is also worth the price. Very helpful staff generally speaking! The only problem is the location, but again this location also provides some cheap alternatives around sichuan road!

Spacious and modern rooms. Great bathroom with all the modcons including a heated toilet seat! The great thing about this hotel is the price, very difficult to find a hotel of this level below 100 Euro's in Shanghai. Not ideal for tourists due to the location but then again taxis are so cheap in Shanghai it is not much of...

I am a resident of Shanghai so the fact that this hotel isn't near much didn't bother me at all. We were upgraded and the room was very spacious, with the nicest bed I've slept in in Asia. The room came with complimentary fruit and cookies. The bathroom was my favorite part. It had a walkin shower with a sunflower...

All I can say is that I love this hotel. The rooms were fantastic (modern, huge and amazing bathroom), the staff was helpful (Wish they were more fluent in English) and the location was very close to the Bund. Not only were the furnishings great, but the mini bar was free. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there...

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
