1 night stay on our first visit to Shanghai. Hotel within walking distance to The Bund. Lobby on the 8th floor had a strong smoking smell. The room was clean & spacious. Service was fast when we complained that we couldn't open the door after we got back from our walk. Breakfast was mediocre. Overall it's ok for short stay.

On a group tour for 8 days and the 3 of us stayed here on the 1st and last night of our trip. This hotel is in need of a major refurbishing. The door to our room could not be locked from the inside, the furniture show obvious sign of wear and tear. The bathroom is the same, dull and...

We stayed for 1 night during a flight layover and chose this for the location as we had a full morning to walk around and explore. Unfortunately, there really isn't much to see or do in the area. There is a nice board walk along the river to stroll along but mostly banks and other large buildings, so very limited...

We stayed here in Oct 2015. The location is great & accessible to every cadre of travelers. Rooms were neat & offered good value for money. Rooms on higher floors provide a good view of the city & the nearby local Bazaar. Also has a good proximity to subway.

The smell of sewage was so overwhelming that it is all that I can remember about our stay in this hotel. It is possible that the problem was from construction in the street, but the stench was so awful that it made its way up to the lobby - located on the 8th floor. The furnishing were outdated and ratty....

I chose this hotel because of the location even after reading some poor reviews. My advice - avoid!! I found a cockroach in the room on the first night, however staff were helpful and did provide a new room. Yuk! The lobby bar has beautiful views, but from their extensive drinks menu I was then told they only have 1...

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
