This hotel was very comfortable, had a great buffet breakfast, and was a perfect location for exploring Shanghai. The Bund was just moments away, as were the unique streets of Old Shanghai. Views from the hotel were stunning.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights and thought the rooms were very clean and comfy they had English TV channels. The location was perfect very close to the tube and also the bund. The staff all spoke English very well didn't have any problems.

The hotel occupies a few levels of the building, with lots of wholesale shops on the ground floor. Everyday, there's lots of deliveries, with goods thrown around the steps, & the shop people setting up their stuff on the steps outside the shops, which is a nightmare if you are going in or coming out with your luggage. Reception is...

We stayed here for 5 nights on a holiday trip. From the airport, taxi will take roughly 45min if no traffic, costing roughly RMB180. We got ripped off the first time we got a taxi, please remember to ask for a receipt and pay only what is printed on it. the hotel is not an easy find for our taxi...

A few blocks from the bund and the yuyuan subway station, walk to Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Museum, and Nanjing Road. Right in the center of things and close to transportation for things farther away for a reasonable price.

The one and only positive thing about this hotel is its location. Rooms are bearable but the air conditioning in our room had only on and off possibilities and thus we slept in a freezer. Otherwise there is not much to say. The lobby area and the corridors are very dark and low and in a very bad condition. You...

The hotel is fine with clean rooms and huge beds. However, if you come as a non-Chinese speaking person and expect to meet English speaking staff, you should look for another hotel, because this staff can hardly explain that you need to make a deposit on your credit card which is given back to you when you leave. The hotel...

My wife, kids and I stayed for a week in July. In terms of pro's, great location, if you want to walk to the Bund (5 mins), Yu Yuan Gradens (5 mins), Fuxing Park (1 min), subway station (10 mins). Rooms were a good size, everything worked as it should. At the end of the room, overlooking the restaurant we...

Location is superb; 5 mins from the Bund and walking distance to many major attractions and public transport. Clientele mostly Asian. Beds are firm, clean and comfortable; teamaking facilities in room but suggest you bring your own teabags, sugar, etc. Breakfast is included and contrary to previous reviews there is an extensive selection of delicious hot and cold dishes, but...

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.
