Location: near subway station, about 10 minutes walk. Room: Modern and clean. But the cups were not washed cleanly. Light control panel is by the beds. It is easy to control lights setting based on different situations. Bluetooth speaker is also equipped. Neighborhood: near Huangpu River, we can see the riverside from our room (11th floor). There is two convenience... More

Basic hotel with comfortable beds and spacious bathroom. Staff at reception was ok but not exceptionally friendly nor helpful, but you can get them to call a cab for you. We werent able to hail a cab by the roadside on 2 occasions, the area seemed busy. Walking distance to Tilanqiao station. Our room was on the 3rd floor facing... More

We only stayed one night but the room was more than comfortable. The bathroom was lovely, spacious and very clean. The hotel room had heaps of gadgets - and a multi national lighting system! There was a wee goldfish in the room too - ours was called Amy? Odd. Big revolving restaurant and bar next door. Heard the breakfast wasn't... More

Stayed here for two nights on a whirlwind trip to see my little sister in China. Room: Very comfortable with all the things you would want and expect. More gadgets than you can shake a stick at (including a complicated but fun lighting system), kettle for coffee, great bathroom with bath, seperate shower and some included toiletries. iPod docking station... ++ Excellent room, clean, contemporary, noiseless. ++ Nice view of the Bund. ++ It's a boutique hotel at competitive prices. -- I had communications difficulties; English language is not their strong points. -- I tried their breakfast but I did not enjoy it.

I have stayed twice for 1 night at this hotel. The bathroom is clean and the rooms are quite spacious with everything you would need. The breakfast, which you can have at the restaurant on the 19th floor with a very nice view of the other bank of Huangpu River, is not lavish but good enough and mainly of Chinese... More

Cosey rooms with all the usual baffling electronic toys. It was great to luxuriate in the big hot bath after the 3 hour drive from Ninbo. Food was so-so, but there were loads of noodle shops nearby with great food at low prices. Hotel was OK with 'late night visitors' :-)

We spend 6 nights in a 2-bedroom riverview suite on the 18th floor, which is the highest floor for guests, with only the bar/restaurant on the 19th penthouse on top. This bar offers a magnificient panoramic view overlooking the Huangpu River (especially at night), flanked by the famous Bund on one side and the impressive high risers in Pudong at... More

I had better places for less money in Shanghai so won't stay there any more. Even though the room was like a little suite, the wallpaper comes of the wall and it's a bit smelly. The breakfast is Chinese only and even if you like this (which is rarely the case for non-Chinese) it's not even good. The staff doesn't... More

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
Hongkou
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
