While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.

Wonderful amenities and design, perfect location, clean, modern. The staff is friendly, resourceful and highly responsive. My entire stay was filled with warmth and hospitality. I have tried hard to find a fault in anything but have found none.
Excellent hotel in the heart of Shanghai, very well located near the bund where you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Jing Mao Tower and Shanghai Tower.
The hotel has a restaurant with good food. Confortable rooms.
We stayed one night but would have been happy to spend more if the price was right! The location is perfect! Right next door to the famous Fairmont hotel. Turn left and you are steps from the Bund! Turn right and you can head to...More
Booked this hotel due to location. Couldnt have asked for anything more. The location was fantastic. 5 min walk to the bund. 5 min walk to nanjing road. 5 min walk to metro stop. Huge room. Clean and new. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Having no reservation and unlike at the Fairmont Peace Hotel (very arrogant receptionists!) we could book a room in the Metropolo. The room is super modern, very clean, big comfy bed, a fancy bathroom with a stand-alone bathtub. The employees are friendly and helpful. The...More

Getting to the train and subway then hailing a taxi is a nuisance if you have lots of luggage. The hotel will get you a taxi to pick you up. Get the hotel to fix a price for you as some cab drivers can charge more than others even with a meter. We paid 180 rmb to get from the hotel to pudong in June this year. This was for two people and 4 pieces of luggage. To us the convenience was worth it. The trip takes between 50 and 60 minutes.
