Blessed with wonderful hosts and the hello/goodbye package!
My husband and I were traveling with our mothers and we were lucky enough to stay here for our first 2 night in Costa Rica and then on our last night before returning home. Nadine and Rafael have created a wonderful and welcoming place to stay - comfortable and stylish rooms, beautiful gardens with tons of birds, delicious breakfasts and attention to sustainability! Nadine went out of her way to introduce us to the area - suggesting a day at La Paz Waterfall Gardens and then actually taking us there and picking us up! We credit her with creating the right vibe for our travels over the next 2 weeks. It was so fun to return there on our last night before heading home to share our travel adventures with them! I wold gladly return in a heartbeat! Thank you so much!!

Fabulous stay in the nature just all you need to relax
We have made already few stays at Tacacori Ecolodge and it is a real paradise. When you arrived from Europe it is only 15min from the airport. Before flying back it is also the best area to relax. Besides that, this time, we spent few days in the central valleys, where you have a lot to visit so far. Sarchi, Grecia, and really close from Tacacori Volcano Poas, La Paz Waterfall, Starbuck coffee...
In a few words, Tacacori Ecolodge, is a relaxing place, Nadine the owner, has a lot of advices and also she can get you very good price for renting a car. This year, she made some more improvement and now there is the possibility to rent a bungalow with kitchenette so if you do not want to go out then you can enjoy a nice dinner on your terrace. Alajuela, is also a good place with lots restaurants, Japanese, Indian, local food, all you want. We love this place, and for sure, we will come back.

Beautiful bungalows in a tropical garden
This was a great choice to start our recent Costa Rica holiday. After a long flight, we really wanted somewhere close to the airport but not in San Jose itself, and this was the perfect property. It was only a short 30 minute drive from the car hire pickup and was our first introduction to some of Costa Rica’s more unique road surfaces !.

The property consists of several bungalows set within the beautiful tropical gardens of the main house. Each bungalow is secluded in its own part of the garden and has its own deck overlooking the luscious planting and wildlife – we spotted a tree porcupine on our first night.

The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable and the bathrooms were well designed and immaculate. We had breakfast included which was taken on the deck up by the main house, looking back over the gardens. The breakfast consisted of fresh fruit followed by scrambled eggs and toast with an option to try the local Gallo Pinto (rice and beans) as well. All this was served with a decent pot of Costa Rican coffee.

The owner was very helpful and advised what to see and where to eat in our short time in the Central Valley. Overall, we wished we could have stayed longer, and so would 100% recommend

Fraud/Scam/Dishonest manager
We made a reservation at Tacacori Econolodge in San Jose Costa Rica for April 4, 2023. My girlfriend requested a room that didn't have stairs and easy access to the room since I was recovering from knee surgery. It took us awhile to find the resort since it was buried in a residential neighborhood on a windy mountains road. Once we entered the hotel, we immediately knew that I would not be able to get to the hotel room due to the hill the hotel was on. But we made it to the hotel room without our luggage to to see if I could get in/out of the hotel easily. Not only could I not get in/out of the hotel room, the room had two small beds, nothing like the pictures they posted on their website. We told the manager we couldn't stay there and she didn't have a problem and understood my concerns with my knee. But the manager charged my credit card for the room and I have been fighting with Booking.com to get a refund for over a month. Sadly, this manager of the hotel was not only dishonest, she posted pictures of a different room. STAY AWAY!

Property seen better days
Room had seen better days and in need of a good clean and renovation. Our room had mould and damp issues and ants were running up the wall behind the bed. We had to move the bed away from the wall to prevent the ants running over our bed in the night. We mentioned this to the owner in the morning and she said she knew about the ants, but they don’t bite! The property was quite hard to find and to get into, with the gate in a difficult position on a narrow steep road. We had to drive along the road three times before we figured out how to get into it, which wasn’t what we wanted after a long drive. The property could be lovely, but currently offers poor value for money and in need of renovation.

Great first stop in Costa Rica
Lovely accommodation and Nadine the owner was the perfect hostess. Nothing was too much trouble for her when it came to organising pick ups and suggesting trips. The lodge is set in wonderful gardens with wildlife abundant. The lodges are clean, spacious and well equipped. Tacacori is a little remote so best if you have a car which we didn’t but Nadine organised taxis whenever we needed.
Lovely start to our holiday

A wonderful, ethical, place for community and nature
Tacacori EcoLodge is a beautiful find, not too far from San Jose airport and was the perfect place to stay whilst we adjusted to the time zone in Costa Rica. Nadine couldn't do enough to make our stay wonderful. When we needed a taxi, she called upon the local driver, and what I really felt was a community, everyone supporting each other. Behind the gates is a beautiful eden, views of green that go on for miles. Breakfast was beautiful too, including their own grown coffee.

Warm Friendly Owner
Don't be put off if the owner seems at first a bit strict with rules. We had an amazing 2 nights here and Nadine was warm and very kind. Chalets are in luxuriant garden and bfast is served on pretty terrace. No mot mot though as it crashed into a window. Would recommendgoing on tour with Nadine: we did Poas and La Paz combo which was great : Poas crater is amazing and La Paz pretty if expensive. Nothing was too much trouble and Nadine sorted taxis etc for us. Whilst the meal in evening was tasty, portions were a bit small so go out. Very pleasant and warm stay.

A great place to stay about 25 minutes from SJO
We spent our last night in Costa Rica here, and were so very glad. The “cabinitas” are basic, very clean, and in a beautiful garden. The owner is lovely and the food delicious (we shared the dinner tray and enjoyed breakfast). And there is a short-but-nice walk in a private woods, down to a stream.

Fabulous stay with son, daughter in law and her mom.
Zannah's(daughter in law) review(Feb 2020) says it all. We felt so welcomed and returning at end of our vacation was lovely. Nadine got up super early to make sure our taxi arrived on time(It did) and to give us farewell hugs. Wonderful memories and would highly recommend the hello/goodbye package.
