If you've a good 4 wheel drive vehicle you must stay in this lodge. Fabulous people, fabulous food, a magic location... perched on the side of a lovely hillside with extraordinary views and ten minutes from the volcano!

The road to Lagunillas lodge is an adventure itself. Make sure you drive a 4x4 if you want to get here by car, for the 1km long road is unpaved, steep at places and very bumpy. Our cabina was a simple but charming stay, with tranquil surroundings. Service was great (even though we don't speak spanish) and dinner even better.... More

Fasten your seatbelt and make sure you have a good 4x4 car before entering the driveway. What a great ride down to a beautiful lodge with an even more beautiful view! The owners don't speak English but that isno problem. They are the absolute best, so kind! Sit on the porch, enjoy the view, check out the hummingbirds just centimeters... More

We stayed in the family cabin which had three beds, private bathroom, kitchen, fireplace and a BBQ. + The cabin was very comfortableThe view was amazing. It was very calm, at night you could only here sounds from nature. There were a lot of birds and nice flowers. Food was very good and the owners were very helpful and friendly.... More

We came back again this year, and had almost forgotten how breathtaking the views are from here. This is truly awe inspiring staying above and in the clouds. The owners remembered us from last year, and made us feel like family again. Omberto and Secorra are very thoughtful hosts, and work very hard to make everything enjoyable. Very rustic cabins... I took a bus towards Poas and was let off at the entrance to the hotel. It was a lovely walk to the hotel, and I pleasantly surprised when I saw the lodge and the view it had. The property is right on the fringe of the park which allows a lot of good bird sighting and a reasonable hike... More

Very nice (but basic) place. Friendly owners. You MUST have a 4X4 to get down the 1.2km road. Leaving a car on the main road is not recommended. The cabins were nice and confortable. Very windy at night. I guess I list this place ''average'' for the price paid per night (70$) and for the fact that you are isolated... More

We loved this place! As other reviewers have said, it is very basic and very rustic. The cabin we stayed in had plenty of gaps that let in the wind, and there were some leaves on our bed when we arrived. We're campers and none of that bothered us. The water is chilly and I'd be a little wary of... More

Enjoyed this beautiful setting in the area of Poas Volcano. High above the clouds it is quite an experience getting in by 4x4 but worth the adventure . Spectacular views, breathtaking rainbows and a truly tranquil setting. We enjoyed our time with the fabulous owners they are such a charming couple. The food was fabulous and we even had trout... Ok, most travelers look for comfort, perks, ease of travel... This place was referred to us from the guys at Poas Lodge (they were booked). We were warned in advance that it was not an easy road and rustic. We had a 4x4 and you cannot drive this road without it (don't try!). The couple that own/run the little place... More
