This hotel is extremely well managed...Berni and Nhi have thought of everything! They'll help arrange airport transportation, car rentals, tours, market trips and even school visits! We had learned on the Pura Vida Hotel website that a local school was in need of books and school supplies and felt that this was a great thing to support. We solicited one...

Northwest of the main airport of San Jose, Costa Rica, is this small, elegent and accomodating lodging. Bernie, the British/American owner, met us at the lovely gated door, of his (and his wife's) truly charming and beautiful small hotel. We had the pleasure of staying in a lovely casita (house), that was 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with an outdoor kitchen...

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Pura Vida - our first night in Costa Rica and then the last night before our return. The hotel, Berni and the entire staff are just terrific. The hotel is beautiful and you really do feel like you're in the most beautiful jungle, but in fact, just minutes from the airport. On...

This is the 2nd trip we stayed at Pura Vida Teutal and was equally happy as last year! We arrived for a one night stay in Alajuela with an early am departure for Tortuguero. Through Berni I was able to arrange for a car tobe waiting for us when we came out of Tortuguero. Nhi is on outstanding chef--do not...

Only 10 minutes from the San Jose Airport (the hotel pays for the taxi) on a hill overlooking the coffee plantations and volcano is a garden paradise with wonderful villas, gardens, flowers, and food. A wonderful breakfast is included and prepared by Bernie and if you're lucky, Nhi will prepare you dinner if you order in advance. This is the...

While we did not stay at this hotel, we did employ the services of Sterling to help get us to other destinations as well as toured us through the country. He gave EXCELLENT service and was a wonderful host. I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed his company and is a very gracious person. You cannot go wrong!

This is a very beautiful place to stay on arriving or leaving Costa Rica. The Casita and garden are beautiful. Breakfast is superb. We ate diner twice - and both times were excellent (topped all other meals we had in Costa Rica), but be prepared to pay accordingly. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

"Wow." That was about all we could say was..."Wow." What an amazing introduction to Costa Rica. The owners, Berni and Nhi and the staff were phenomenally generous hosts, have an amazing ability to help you feel comfortable, spark your interest in Costa Rica and teach you how to live your life with purpose, all in a very non-intrusive and enlivening...

Pura Vida is a relaxing sanctuary; super clean, modern rooms; beautiful common space/dining area; exceptional grounds. Best part: the food is gourmet (best meal of our vacation), the owners and staff are exceptionally friendly and generous with their time and knowledge of the area, the country, and all of the beautiful plants that adorn their property. We felt right at...

We stayed just one night after arriving at San Jose. Our flight was 4 hours delayed and the innkepper was at the door to greet us when the taxi arrived. The breakfast the next day was fantastic, the best we had in Costa Rica. Lots of local fruits, a homemade juice and bread pudding with carmel sauce that I'm still...
