This was a quiet little sanctuary after a long day of travel. It's right near the airport, so it's convenient to get to. The staff is very fruendly and helpful, and the make a very nice breakfast. There are restaurants nearby that are within walking distance.

Alejuala is a better place to B&B Tropical is a comfortable and homey hostel at a great location near downtown Alajuela. The staff is also so unbelievably helpful and caring and will do everything possible to get visitors acclimated and moving on to their next destination. Very cozy B & B in Alajuela. The host Isabel is very friendly and helpful, she confirmed our rental car reservation. Sylvia makes a delicious breakfast and there is a bunny in the backyard. We enjoyed our overnight stay and are coming back in a week to spend another night before leaving Costa Rica

This is my second time staying here at Vida Tropical and I have no complaints. Isabel is very friendly and helpful and even arranged our car rental for us. It was delivered right to the door the morning after we arrived and we made payment right on the spot there. We stayed again on our return trip home and we... More

I was not expecting a hostel-like environment, but was pleasantly surprised by the location of Vida Tropical. It is within walking distance (4 blocks) of shopping and restaurants, which served us well since we arrived after-dark to an unfamiliar city. (Highly recommended is Jalapeños Central for Tex-Mex.) Our room was large - a queen bed plus a twin-over-double bunk for... More

Drenched clothes from earlier travels and an early arrival time yet housekeeper Sylvia was welcoming: offered the clothesline to dry clothing, a clean and comfortable last day in Costa Rica. Great referral to "the Jalapeno" a tasty local restaurante in town within walking distance. Slept well and ate the best breakfast of my Costa Rica trip while waiting for my... More

The people here were terrific, helping us with a rental car and arrangements to coach the 5:00am flight in the morning. Isabel recommended a local Columbian restaurant in walking distance that had good food and was fun to visit. Some of the rooms are barely adequate and some are very nice, so let them know what you are interested in.... More

hi Xenonora I am surprised the driver had trouble finding us. we provide our guests, prior to arrival, very extensive directions in spanish and english, plus 3 telephone numbers the driver can use to call us if he is new in town and lost (and they ALL have cell phones). “As should be expected, the rooms along the front street side are more subject to the motorcycle and car noise during the day and into the evening some. The Terrace room bed was fine for sleeping, but it's a Murphy bed and has a hard wooden edge all around it. I don't know if the other rooms are the same.”
