This resort was huge. We ended up in the higher rooms and realised a little too late we would need a car to get around this resort if we didn't want to depend on the shuttle service to get us around. The meals were great...More
La Fortuna is a town full of plenty to do. It's one of the places we would love to return to, should we be lucky enough to come back to Costa Rica. Based on that, I would say that you would be unlikely to spend...More

Like critters? Stay in room 153, 154, or 155. You're in the last rooms before a lot of open space and will see birds, monkeys, and coatis out your back door. Fireflies at night, too.
I loved the pools. The restaurant achieves a look Disney...More

Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bath was a bit dated but really who cares? The grounds are beautiful and the pools and pool bar is great. Good pizza and snacks if you don't want to go to the restaurant. Breakfast buffet had a lot of choices. It is a short taxi ride to LaFortuna ($8). We enjoyed our stay. I was put off by the reviews but it was lovely.

We have been there 3 times and have stayed twice in the "standard" rooms building, and most recently in the NEW, VERY nice "superior" rooms building, which are the closest to the restaurant and pools. I recommend paying the little extra for the superior room. Both these buildings are a 2-minute walk to the restaurant and pools and under a 10-minute walk to horseback riding and zip lines, Yet these rooms -- as well as the pools -- have always been very quiet during both the day and night, as the resort seems to cater to couples and families, not noisy groups. If you stay 3 nights I suggest, in addition to the pools, going horseback riding one day, zip lining another, and visiting the La Fortuna waterfall another.
