We stay one night in Hotel Cortez Azul. As the fridge did look terrible and the door did not lock, the spanish owner promised us his second hotel Villa Pacande. Cortez Azul was also very noisy as of 5 am. The owner promised us free transportation from Villa Pacande to Alajuela whenever we want. As we came to his bar... More

I stayed with a group of 9 people. We had 3 to the room. The beds are not comfortable but the room was ok. I did see that there are two rooms that are quite nice - wood floors and patio in the back. Like many places in Costa Rica, no a/c and fans have to be requested. They were... More

First, the good: The staff are really good people, in fact, they were the best part of our stay. Because they were so good to us, I feel guilty about writing a negative review, but travelers need to be informed. I don't understand the five-star reviews here at all. The room was not so clean. We didn't expect anything plush... More

Eventhough we did not spend tIme in San Jose area, we started and finished our trip at Villa Pacande (Alajuela). The room was very clean and comfortable but the best at this place is the owner (Marcela). She helped us a lot in starting our trip and connected us with car rental agency very reliable and with a good price.... More

Stayed in Villa Pacande a few nights while in Costa Rica... I could not have been treated better! I've stayed all over the world in some of the best chains out there and few times have I been treated the way Marcela and her staff treated me! If you are traveling to Costa Rica and are going to be staying... More

We spent the night here before flying home the next afternoon. Charming hostess Marcela made our visit very pleasant; she even cooked dinner for us because there are not restaurants close by. Good breakfast in a beautiful garden; a great place to sit, relax and enjoy the morning before the flight home.

I had booked another place in Alajuela but it was in the center of town and not what I was looking for.The taxi driver thought I would like Villa Pacande and he was right! I showed up without a reservation and was so thankful that Marcela had a nice clean room for me. I had a nice patio to myself... More

We stayed there upon arrival and before leaving the country. It is exactly what you need after long flight or before one. You need to have your own car to get there. I recommend it!

I stayed there with my husband on the first night we arrived to Costa Rica. Unfortunately it was farther then we thought, it's actually outside of Alajuela. The breakfast was average (even less), so was the service. The place is pretty clean and the room was big, but we did expect to get more from the hotel for the price... More

We ended up staying 9 nights at Villa Pacande. It became our home base. The grounds are lovely and Marcela was a wonderful host. It was a real oasis outside the bustle of the city. The rooms are simple yet afford all the necessities. The service is family friendly and we were made to feel at home. We will certainly... More
