I can safely say I have stayed at every so-called luxury vacation resort worth staying at in Costa Rica and I am well aware that some may find the service slightly lacking when compared to the much higher standards in the United States. However, Rio Perlas sets a new low. Our experience was atrocious right from the get go. The...

We spent our honeymoon in this hotel in 2003 when it was managed under Barcelo and we fell in love with the butterflies, excellent service, hot springs, and room. Our return in 2006 resulted in mixed reviews. The rooms had deterioriated a bit and the service was struggling. Our suite was okay, but the jacuzzi did not work, and we...

Rio Perlas is an attractive place, but 5 star might be stretching it a little. The buildings were very nice, but the grass needed to be weedwacked. The pool areas were good but not great. The spa was very clean and inviting. The technicians were very friendly and helpful. The main restaurant was beautiful, but the food was not at...

We just returned from Costa Rica and we spent three nights at Rio Perlas. We just loved it. The resort encompasses an entire valley. The grounds were beautiful. There were hiking trails, restaurants, spa, thermal swimmin pool, everyting you could possibly want. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice.

My husband and I went to Rio Perlas for our part of our honeymoon. Of every place that we were going to stay, I was most skeptical about this hotel - simply because of the lack of reviews that I could find about it. However, there was no need for my worries. This place is beautiful. I wish we could...

My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous resort looking for a relaxing getaway. Hotel Rio Perlas fit the bill perfectly. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite overlooking a stocked trout pond and lovely waterfall. In fact, everywhere we looked there were waterfalls. The room was incredibly spacious with a full kitchen, living room and large bathroom which included cozy,...

This resort, no longer affiliated with the Barceló chain, is located about an hour east of San Jose near the little town of Orosi. It is really a Shangri La. Built in a small, steep little valley, a stream cascades through the middle of the property and a nearby hot spring provides thermal water for several small pools and one...
