I really enjoyed the service from the hotel. Every employee I met were really nice and excellent in customer service. BUT man this hotel/motel needs super upgrades, updates asap. Needs new beds, bedding. They have water in your bathroom it only gets cold and warm. There is no AC, we were told it gets cold at night but it's only for about 3-5 hours of cold.

We stayed here as all other accomodations in the region were fully booked. We were received by very friendly staff, who went to great length to grant us a discount for the kids which we had missed when booking the room online. They were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast is included and offers a wide variety (typical tico, american, european) of great food, served by friendly people with a smile on their face. Sadly, the great breakfast and excellent service is offset by the hotel itself. It is obvious it used to have great charm (the common sitting area next to the little garden is a reminder of this). However, it is a bit long in the tooth and shows obvious neglect. After all four of us had showered, there was water leaking into the room *through the wall*, so that some of our luggage got wet. The sink in the bathroom also leaked when washing our hands, causing puddles on the floor below it. Other parts of the hotel also show that repairs and maintenance is overdue. In addition, the beds have old spring mattresses that are quite uncomfortable and the place is quite loud (noise from passing cars and voices from the neighbourhood throughout the night). Despite it being quite cold at night there were only very thin blankets that were fairly small for two people sharing the queen bed. Due to all this, we spent two rather restless nights. Not sure about its longer term future, there is a "se vende" sign at the front gate, which might also explain why the current owners are keeping back on maintenance expenses... If friendly service has greater weight than comfort, it is still an ok place to stay.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights a week ago. It was part of a vacation trip to firm up our future homestead in Costa Rica, which is much further south than Orosi. From our very friendly check-in with Jessica, to our very large room with 2 extra beds, a small fridge in case we needed it, and then all of the rest if the way through, we had one of the most pleasant stays while in Costa Rica, and at an incredibly reasonable price. Our bathroom had the typical shower like we'd seen other places, however, was done with the most beautiful ceramic tile work, that we'd seen as of yet in other hotels. Those extra 2 beds we were equipped with would have come in handy if still travelling with children. The relaxed sitting area in the middle of the hotel was a great place to meditate, read in, and talk in as well, with a variety of books available that you might have forgotten to pack. Even when raining all around you, that outside/inside room kept us dry. The included breakfast had loads of choices, was presented quickly, and tasted really great. One night while we were there, we stayed out rather late, and when arriving back to the hotel the gate was closed. We assumed on approach we'd have to park across the street somewhere, when magically the gate was opened for us, by another one of the staff, and we were welcomed back in. We can not rave enough about this quaint, beautifully run hotel, other than to say, that one of my former careers within hospitality was spent within the hotel and restaurant industry, with training as well as experience all the way through, and at lots of different levels, and I would rate this hotel a 5 star and then some, and would include Sandy who only speaks Spanish, in areas like customer service, as well as most everything else. The one point I definitely have to mention, is that the roosters in the area start doing their thing at around 1:30am in the morning at a slower pace of about once an hour, and then work themselves up to much more often at around 4:30am. We loved the eggs while in Costa Rica, so didn't mind hearing a few roosters along the way. We are planning on staying at this hotel again, as part of our final move to Costa Rica sometime in the spring.

I found this hotel very basic. It's very dated and had it been booked by us an not part of a tour we would have moved. No hairdryer in room beds are small The staff are lovely and helpful. Tapanti Park is well worth a visit

Basic hotel. Jessica at reception was extremely helpful and organized a tour for us as well as a load of laundry. $4 a kilo (I think). We had a big bag that came to about $11. We dropped it off in the morning and it was ready in the evening. Rooms were equipped with a double and a single bed. The double bed was rather uncomfortable - the springs could be felt through the rubber mattress. The walls of the rooms were solid but the passing trucks and motorbikes during the night made for difficult sleeping. Very nice breakfast with cereal, fruit, juice, eggs and toast. I think there were also some local food options but we didn't try. There was a very nice restaurant about 3 doors up from the hotel. Note that the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. Just past the restaurant was a mini-mart where you could buy the basics.
