We stayed for 2 nights in one of the tent-houses. Beforehand we were a little afraid that they would get extremely hot with the sun on it, but because they are mostly made of wood and offer good ventilation, they are actually pretty cool inside and we slept very well! If you like to sleep in a tent and get...

We were greeted by the wife of this husband and wife operated gem and she was quite friendly and helpful. The room was perfectly serviceable, though quite warm as is to be expected in this part of Costa Rica, the addition of some sort of fan to help with air circulation would be nice, but at least both sides of...

When we arrived in Rincon de la vieja, we had just completed by far the longest leg in our scheduled roadtrip, and we were all warm, sweating and basically very tired. We were welcomed by our host Gerard (Dutch guy) and he advised to go swimming in a nearby laguna. This sounded like music to our ears so off we...

Stayed here for 2 nights and we loved it!! We camped which added to the experience as the strong winds that assure the cool nights here, blow around the tents at night. On top of that, this place is great as: - Gerard, the owner, is a fantastic guy that loves to take care of his guests. Everything is done...

We spent 1 night in a room and the rest in the tent house. Everything about this property was immaculate and Gerard was a great host! I had some of the best nights of sleep in my whole trip here (and some really great hot showers). The sky is beautiful at night and it's very quiet and peaceful here. During...

Owner was kind and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Felt extremely lucky to have stumbled upon this place. Owner will make a delicious breakfast with homemade marmelade and packed lunch for an small price. Wifi was a bit slow. Great place to relax! Highly recommended.

The room was clean, neat, quiet and ready for a family of 4. Hot water, electricity, clean towels and windows. A very modern place, in a wonderful country setting. The host was friendly and gave us plenty of information about the area and the park. The park was not far from the well signed El Sol Verde. We ended up...

Our hosts, Gerard and Ingrid, warmly welcomed us to their lodge in the pouring 'liquid sunshine'. But this was just temporarily. First of all, rincon de la vieja is worth a visit. It wasn't on our list at first, but i'm very happy we came. Beautiful hikes and wonderful surroundings. El sol verde, with its 'happy eggs' for breakfast and...

El Sol Verde is a lovely small lodge and campground on the way to the Rincon de la Vieja Park from Liberia. It's such a little gem for independent travelers who seek a bit more peace. Room are very clean with hot water and great views of a green valley. The location is great: 10km to the park, transportation can...

My partner Roger and I chose Rincon de la Vieja as a quieter alternative to Arenal and la Fortuna. We stayed two nights in one of the guest rooms (with private bath) at El Sol Verde and were delighted. Ingrid and Gerard were welcoming and friendly; the room was clean and comfortable; the breakfasts of happy eggs from their own...
