The property is gorgeous. You don’t have to choose between beach and mountains as the property does a nice job of giving you a nature setting with a beach. While there were very minor things that I would change, my husband and I had a great time and already want to return. The service has been so friendly. I don’t know where to begin with thanking all the wonderful people. The hotel does probably one of the best jobs at recognizing loyal Marriott members. Marriott properties have declined in this aspect ever since the merger with Starwood (in my opinion), so I was happy to see that the W was a much needed exception. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Ayeisha Antoni. She went above and beyond in making our trip special. I hope her manager recognizes her. Bravo! We will be back and I would recommend to anyone who wants a gorgeous, friendly reprieve from a hectic life.…
We had an amazing time at The W. The food was amazing even though it took us a day to figure out the schedule. Every meal from room service to the restaurants was absolutely delicious. We kept raving about how fresh everything was. The staff was amazing and personable. Before we left everyone knew us by name which was such a personal unforgettable touch. Our room had a great view and was very private and comfortable. We stayed in the building close to the lobby. I believe it was called building one. If it’s your first time and you take advantage of the all inclusive option please make sure you ask what is included in the bar and refrigerator because only some items are included. We wanted to return this year but had to push it out until next year. The W definitely spoiled us and we plan on making this a yearly destination.…
The hotel is very comfortable, the gardens and surroundings are very clean, the rooms are spacious, during our check in and out the staff was extremely friendly and fast. I would also highly recommend Pininos Aventuras for any tour you are looking for, we have used them for almost 3 years and they are very professional.. if you are looking for a ride to the Airport they will help you as well .. Th To w reserva conchal for a wonderful staying , we already plan to get back in a few years !! Pura vida!!
The hotel has a really beautiful clean beach. The chairs were more or less available during a busy Christmas time. They also have a food and drink service at the beach. The pool area is also nice and you don't need to wake up early and reserve beds, most of the times we were able to find available beds. The water is heated in the family pool. Service personnel is also very nice. Who stood out during our stay were Karina at Mercato restaurant, she was just the loveliest person and super friendly who genuinely liked to get to know the guests. All the servers in that restaurant were nice and professional. Also Carlos from Latitude was just a pro! He remembered everything we ordered at the previous times and even our customized drinks! He was absolute top natch professional and such a pleasant human being who made our dinners fun! That said Latitude was our least favourite restaurant. Beach restaurant and Mercado were our favorites. Wanted to give a shout out to William from the beach restaurant who was also very professional and super pleasant. The rooms in the hotel are spacious but really lack closet space. I had to request luggage holders and just keep the suitcase in the middle of the room. Golf cart service was very efficient, I am surprised people complain about it. Never took more than 5 min to get one. We were staying in the second building and everything was in 5 min walking distance. The beach club maybe a bit longer if we decided to walk instead of taking the golf cart. But it's a super nice walk and we saw so many monkeys on the way. Aslo racoons and iguanas. The gym is nice and not crowded. Haven't tried the spa, but instead did the massages on the beach (not provided by the hotel). If you like a strong massage Yasmin is the one to go with. What we didn't like about the hotel is the prices. Compared to a very high end restaurant in the area our hotel prices were way way higher. Basically they have Manhattan NY prices for not the same quality meal or drinks. We felt that they kind of took an advantage from the fact that there are zero restaurants in walking distance, so you kind of have to eat and drink with them and they really have high prices in my opinion. I know it's a 5 star hotel, but this hotel is not in that caliber like Four Seasons but they basically charge the same prices. Also this hotel is pretty far from all the tour activities, at least 2 hours each way. So if you are planning to take lots of tours, something to think about. But if you are there for their beach, then go for it.…
It has all the luxury and service of a five star hotel, however we were literally eating alive by the mosquitoes throughout this resort. Days later we are still covered in welts. The beach was average w very few chairs. Further the food was mediocre at best and vastly overpriced. Most of Costa Rica prides themselves on quality food and decent prices. The W was absurd. $100 for breakfast, $6 for a glass of soda, per. Lastly, even after we left, fully checked out paid all the “resort fees” parking, taxes etc, they had the gaul to call me to tell me they forgot to charge me for something. Wanted my permission to charge my card, again!! Told them I couldn’t reach it as my hands are full scratching the 50 plus bites my body is covered with. Update: they charged my card without authorization for what they believe was overlooked. I fell totally ripped off.…
We have had a wonderful relaxing week at the W. I hate leaving. The staff here are amazing especially Randall at the Zona Azul beach pool. So many friendly workers it would take a long time to name. Everyone here is happy to help with anything you need! They all remember your name and are willing to go above and beyond to get anything you want or need. I love staying on a reserve. Wildlife everywhere. The breakfast buffet is amazing and enough food to hold you over until dinner. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our ocean view room was very nice and we felt pampered every day. I did take advantage of the lovely ladies giving massages on the beach. They were amazing. Anna,Maria and Sammy!. I had a message every day! Nothing like a message with the sound of the waves and an ocean breeze!Loved every minute and would not hesitate to return. …
Beautiful beach. Beautiful resort. Too expensive. Expect to pay $900 per day for room & food. Food was mediocre. Options were limited. Hardly any sandwiches, except hamburger. Salads were limited, not very large, & not cheap. Excursions by hotel partners were at least $100 per person & often > $200! Layout of hotel property is odd. Beach was a shuttle or 10 minute walk. Golf course not close. Way too spread out. Staff polite, but often felt like they were practicing their English. Suite was big, but Living room furniture very uncomfortable. Instead of relaxation & comfort, furniture was purchased to look like artwork. Lots of beautiful beaches in the world, less remote, less expensive & closer to local towns, restaurants & nightlife
The bed was so nice and the staff was good. I loved the food although it took awhile. They have fun activities and if you have kids, I would recommend this place. We got stuck with another hotel and left to come here. They were able to fit us in.
We just returned from the W for a 5 night vacation with 3 kids (13 through 20). We had a great time. The resort is beautiful, the food was good and our room was great. One of my kids has celiac and we had a good experience with gluten free options while we were there. We e-mailed ahead of time, told them that we had a gluten free person in our party and they put the information in our profile and with our reservations. Every time we went to eat, the host would ask if anyone had an allergy (or sometimes they already knew from our profile). The gluten free options that are printed on the menu are pretty limited. However, if my daughter wanted something that wasn't listed as gluten free, we would ask the waiter, the waiter would ask the chef, and they were often able to accomodate. They would ask if cross contamination mattered to us, and we would explain that it does. We ate at all of the restaurants while we were there. My daughter was sometimes given gluten free bread when the rest of us had bread, and sometimes they gave her gluten free tortilla chips. While we were there, my daughter ate fish tacos, grilled chicken and mash potatoes, skirt steak, gluten free pasta with seafood, ceviche, and snapper with rice and curry sauce among other things. We also did the latitude tasting menu on new years eve. We asked them ahead of time if they could do a gluten free version and they said yes, They did a nice job with the tasting menu and my daughter enjoyed it. It was a bit nerve wracking at times because there is a bit of a language barrier. However, most of our servers seemed to understand the drill. We only had someone try to serve us some fries that weren't gluten free once. We asked them to double check them and they came back and apologized because they were fried in the same oil as items with gluten. Otherwise, everything went perfectly. We thought that was pretty good for a 5 night vacation. The only negative thing that happened with the W was that we booked a suite for 3 people because it had a king bed and could accomodate a rollaway. I asked a couple of days before to confirm we would have the rollaway in the room when we arrived and they didn't respond. I e-mailed again and they responded saying that they didn't have a rollaway for us. I called and said, but I booked the room for 3 people and there is just a king bed and the manager said that it was my fault for not telling them earlier we needed a rollaway and that they expected 2 adults and a teenager to be able to all share a king bed. When we arrived they were able to get us a rollaway, but it was a negative interaction. …
A huge thank you to the staff at the gorgeous W Hotel Reserva Conchal. When we arrived there was a mix up with our reservation. No fault of the hotel, it appears to have been a travel agent issue. However, the staff, and particularly Alberto Cortes, made our trip beyond wonderful. Every single person on the staff here is so highly attuned to customer service that it’s hard to single anyone out. However, we want to pay particular compliments to Alberto, Glinda at the restaurant desk, Nancy the best masseuse ever, Denisse the charming young lady filling in at the gift shop and soon transitioning to the restaurant and Jaime, our waiter who recently moved up from Jaco and celebrated his birthday at work. This a a beautiful property and the best service staff ever. You made our trip so memorable and we thank you!…
