We stayed in Rancho Armadillo for almost a week. And what a great week it was!
The owner, Rick, is a great guy. He knows the area very well (and other touristic areas in Costa Rica aswell) and he'll help you book your excursions if...More
We arrived a bit late in the evening, having wisely rented a Costa Rican GPS from our car rental agency - Rancho Armadillo is tucked away on a quiet lane. We were warmly greeted by Rick, the owner/manager, as soon as we arrived! Even before...More
Small, close to town (although I'd recommend a car), laid-back to the nth power. Owner/operator is a very mellow and friendly guy- this is a good place to hang out at the pool and do a whole lot of nothing. If you're looking for lots...More
This hotel is one of 89 Adventure Hotels in Costa Rica. It's my hidden gem. This was my second visit, my husband's first and it's as beautiful as when I was there three years ago with my girlfriend. You are completely on sensory overload; the...More
I just returned from my 2nd stay at Rancho Armadillo, and it was just as fantastic as I remembered it. I started each day reading in one of the hammocks, looking at the ocean, and then enjoying Rick's delicious breakfast. The property is gorgeous, and...More

We are located on the side of the mountain overlooking the Gulf of Papagayo, about 1 Mile from the beach in Coco. (10 -15 minute walk downhill) Because the mountains come right down to the ocean each of the beaches north and south of us require a drive. Playas Hermosa & Playa Panama to the north of us is about a 10 minute drive and Ocotal to the south is also a 10 minute drive. Taxi's to and from Coco are about $4.
I highly recommend renting a car, there is so much to do and see in this area, by having your own transportation it will be much cheaper and more convienent in the long run.
