It was very close to the restaurants, beach and a great supermarket. It was very clean and quiet for being so close to town, beds were comfortable, but nothing fancy. We stayed in the family suite with 2 separate bedrooms and that was nice after...More
Convenient location with clean rooms. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and it was perfect. Few minute walk to the Main Street of Coco and about 5 minutes down to the beach. Would stay again if back in Coco!
I recently stayed at the Hotel Colono Beach in Playa del Coco. I was pleased to find a great room with nice AC, a nice TV and great wireless internet. The grounds were nice and the pool and bar area were well kept. There was...More
This is near the main road and shopping area in Playas del Coco and is a walking distance to the beach area. It's a small place and is just what we needed to sleep in after a long day of touring Costa Rica.
I am currently staying at Hotel Colono, this is my second time at this hotel. The service, the attitude of all staff, the cleanliness of the entire property are exemplary. The owner lives on site and they have a 24/7 security guard and cameras around...More

I flew into Liberia airport which is much closer so I cannot comment on cab costs from San Jose. I did see a bus stop across the street from the hotel and I was aware of another one a couple of walkable blocks away. Locals told me it is possible to take busses all the way to or from San Jose/Coco. They said it is cheap but it takes all day. Since Coco is so far from San Jose I would contact a tour operator that advertises airport shuttle service, I suspect it will be less expensive than a taxi half way across the country. If your travels are confined to the Coco/west coast area you may want to consider flying into the Liberia airport. If on the other hand you are visiting the rain forests, volcanoes, and/or east coast then staying in Coco will not be efficient. Consider staying in or closer to San Jose.
