Cute place with large rooms and powerful AC. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere, though. It’s about a 10 minute walk to Play Potrero. It’s easiest to get a taxi (or rent a car) to get around to Playa Flamingo or Playa Brasilito. A taxi was 2-3mil each way.
We stayed here our first night in Costa Rica. It was about an hour and a half drive from the Liberia airport. This is a family run hotel and they were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, the beds are comfortable and the included breakfast was delicious! You are about a five minute walk to the beach/marina and a delicious restaurant called Pleamars which has the best Mojitos ever! The grocery store is right next to the hotel. Would definitely recommend this place!
Don’t judge the sign! We had booked our stay before leaving Canada and as we arrived at Guanacaste Lodge, we felt a little worried that we had booked a not so great place. The signage from the road is old and faded and it looks a little sketchy. But we pulled in and we’re pleasantly surprised! This little place is fantastic! The little cabanas were spacious and clean. The morning breakfast was basic but made fresh and it was delicious. The pool was clean and the temperature was just right. The grounds are beautiful. The staff was very friendly and they even allowed us to check in early because our room wasn’t currently occupied. We were very happy here!
The staff is very friendly and clean Location is perfect and near everything, and we will definitely be returning. The pool and parking are excellent. The breakfast was delicious. A family oriented establishment that is very welcoming.
You might pass right by the Guanacaste Lodge if you weren't looking for it specifically but we were so happy that we found it! It is on the main road heading down to Playa Flamingo which is a gorgeous beach area. Our room was spotlessly clean and was cleaned each day. The fridge was a great bonus. The Costa Rican family that runs the hotel was lovely...and extremely hard working. ( Anna welcomed us when we arrived, cooked us breakfast each morning, cleaned up after breakfast and then proceeded to clean the rooms....all while looking after her 3 young children!!) The breakfast was excellent, cooked right in the small kitchen next to the pool and the open air thatched roof eating area. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, beans and rice, fresh fruit, toast, coffee and juice each morning. The location is perfect, close to beaches, next to a supermarket on one side and a great Italian restaurant on the other side. The pool was great. Since there are only 10 rooms available, the place was not crowded. When we were there was a great mix of local families and international visitors. We are planning to return to Costa Rica next year and the Guanacaste Lodge is where we will stay!…
Guanacaste Lodge is the best location in Playa Flamingo. I stayed there with family and we had a wonderful weekend, ejnoyed breath taking beaches, good service and excellent food and drinks! We will go back soon..
Room was comfortable but not luxurious. It's spacious and had a fridge so you could get beers from the supermarket and have a drink on the terrace. The pool is clean and a nice option after a day exploring. Local beaches are good and the restaurant next door was excellent. Enjoyed the breakfast here. Rice and beans with eggs, toast with jam, coffee, juice and fruit all on offer. Very pleasant stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The pool was great, a nice interlude from the heat. Our room was basic, but comfortable, enjoyed our own own little patio. Breakfast was good and appreciated. The family that runs the lodge is very accommodating. Although not rated high by some standards, we felt this would deserve much higher.
This place is very rough around the edges. The air conditioning to start with was struggling the whole night and it was never up to the challenge of cooling the room. Secondly the bugs were pretty bad. The refrigerator was not plugged in and not sure it was ever working by morning time. The beds were hard as a rock and the ability to sleep was constantly interrupted by cats fighting. The bathroom is a mess looks like something out of horror film. Unless it’s a bachelor party or your desperate I would encourage you to look elsewhere.
Felt uncomfortable the whole time I was here..not a good bive here. First the rooms are small ,beds not comfortable small beds..room not that clean this place looks more like a motel 6 but worst. Pool is filthy with hairs and nasty..i notice right away I made a mistake by staying here..i choose this small hotel to give a try..real cheap price you get what you pay for, also you only get 1 towel per person and that's all you get..the worst part is here...this place is full of local people cause of the price ..also the kids that are staying here from other tenants are ghetto kids ,,screaming like crazy at all hours ..specially at pool am talking annoying screaming ..and they wake up to the pool since early hours till night..for them thus place is a resort..you been warned..if you don't mind been MIX with ghetto people ..then go ahead and book here..goid thing I only use this place to sleep.…
