Sugar's Monkey is a lively, unpretentious place. With only a few room, it has a very homely feel and the staff are very friendly and relaxed. Its location, only a few meters from the beach, is hard to beat for surfers. And with a couple of restaurants around and a small shop for food nearby, it is a perfect base...

A little confused on this place... lets start with the good. Location is great! Just a short walk down a path to the main break and next door to the two other main hotels rip jack inn and la marajeda. Decor is great! Very stylish, clean lounge area with pool table, skate boards and toys. Big bean bag like pillows...

Perfect location. Simple, clean air-conditioned room- beach cabana style. Great for meeting other travellers. A surfers paradise. My adult daughter and I visited Playa Grande and Sugar's Monkey for four wonderful days. The hotel owner has renovated the place with a cool, artistic vibe and the staff is terrific - especially Manuel! The rooms are cute and comfortable and each has a private outdoor area. The restaurant has a limited menu but we had several different things...

Excellent Value and wonderful vibe. This hotel is good for families, solo travels, older vacations and young couples. One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to is a very short walk away. Great food nearby too.

We had a wonderful week at Sugar's Monkey. It's super relaxing with reliable WiFi and terrific air conditioning in the rooms. The owner Enrico is a terrific host. All four of us are non-surfers over 50 but we felt right at home. :-)

Nice laid back place with awesome owners. Enrico and Victoria were excellent hosts. The hotel is a two minute walk from the beach. Laid back atmosphere. Stayed with a couple of friends and had a great time. Next trip down to the sea I will go with my wife and learn how to surf.

WE LOVED Sugar's Monkey, and our family of five stayed there 9 days. Playa Grande is a relaxed, very cool, safe, chill little surfing town. There are several of good restaurants, and several comfortable hotels. Sugar's Monkey is our favorite of them all. Enrico Reina and his wife Victoria, and their great staff, run a really nice hotel. Great service....
