We had difficulty finding the hotel but asked some friendly locals and they lead us there :) We were preapred for the roads and that we may have to drive through a river bed... We had a rental car so we drove it like we stole it and plowed right through the river. Once at the hotel we got checked...

This place is buzzing with jungle wildlife. Our room (9) was beautiful and uniquely designed with colored windows, huge shower area, and an upstair porch overviewing the hotel grounds. Andrea (the manager) was very nice, and an amazing cook. Dinner is ordered in advance, and we called to let her know we are vegetarians. She made a special meal for...

My family (kids 9 and 11) just returned from Costa Rica. We spent two nights at the Hotel Flying Crocodile. Honestly, if you could have picked up this hotel and put it 10 minutes by road (instead of 45) to Samara town, it would have been perfect for us. (The website states that the 'short route' is about 15 mins...

After booking at least 6 months in advance and reading all of these predominantly good review we were excited to stay at the flying crocodile. We have booked cottage no1 which from the pictures looked very nice and comfortable. The initial impressions were good as the setting is pretty with nice garden and short drive to the beach, however this...

Thanks to you for taking the time to submit your review. However, I would like one or the other to clarify. It is true that the air conditioning was too loud, that was jammed rotor, then what we have found. You came to me in the evening to tell me about the problem. Unfortunately, it is not possible in the...

We booked this place cause it had an interesting name " the flying crocodile" and we're ready to see some flying creatures. Flying creatures we saw but it wasn't crocodiles but humans in little planes taking off to see the jungle including its crocodiles, turtles, birds and other treasures of Mother Nature. Getting there is half the adventure, a fun...

The hotel is no where close to Samara Beach. When we arrived in the evening, the Host informed us there was no food at all and we had to give 24 hours notice, The room was uncomfortable, windows broken and hot and stuffy. There was no one around when we decided to checkout in the morning. You should have at...

Flying Crocodile was such a unique place. Each building was artistically constructed, often built around huge guanacaste trees which invited the Congo monkeys and other wildlife. Ping Pong, billiards and the pool and other facilities were in great shape. Lots of different ranchos and hang out spots. Everyone working there seemed happy.

Great set of bungalows/apartments with is own gyrocopter airport. Very cool location about 20 minutes from Samara Beach and very close (10 minutes) to the fantastic Barrigona beach. Some had full kitchens, others just a fridge. Breakfast was continental style with cooked to order eggs if desired (good and filling). They also have lunch and dinner (dinner was great too...

My wife, our toddler and I just spent 9 amazing nights at this hotel, and nothing I can say here will come close to expressing how sad we are to have left this morning. IT's just that kind of place. The grounds are beautiful, the bungalows private, cozy, and very well-designed. We really enjoyed just walking the paths that lead...

We traveled as a group of 10 people and had an absolutely amazing time at the Flying Crocodile. Each bungalow was unique and took us all by surprise with its details, artwork and character. The wildlife and the beaches nearby were all added bonuses, as well as the food served in the Croc's restaurant. Would highly recommend booking a gyrocopter...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Flying Crocodile Lodge is nestled in a nature reserve and surrounded by mangroves. Not far away is situated the untouched beach of Playa Buena Vista (about 10 min. by foot) located on the Nicoya Peninsula, 6 km north of Samara. Our Lodge offers ten individually designed rooms, each equipped with a bathroom, air conditioning, fan and fridge. The bungalows are colorful and attractive with attention to special details (inspired by the architecture of the Mexican "Casa del Pacifico" and the art of Antonio Gaudi). We are surrounded by approximately 2 acres of tropical gardens with a swimming pool, where many animals have found their home. The garden invites you to stay, relax and enjoy. Additionally, there are table tennis, table football, pool table and a trampoline. For our younger guests a playground and a children's pool with water slide is available. You will find yourselves well taken care of by our chef, who serves complete breakfasts, luncheons and specially prepared dinners, every day. We offer a complete program of excursions and other adventures you might like, as well as laundry service. Also for group travelers, we offer our full services. We are happy to cater to special procedures and requirements, and also rent out the entire hotel, in order to preserve the calm and friendly group dynamics. Similarly, we support you in seminars, conferences, workshops, presentations, antistress training and much more. It is our intent that we will provide participants and speakers a pleasant atmosphere. Our hotel is connected with an Ultra-Light Flying Center. The experienced pilots offer you a flight adventure of a life time. ... more   less
