We ended our tour with a 3 day stay here and I loved it. There were several activities offered and I didn't have time to do them all. They had packages for snorkeling, horseback riding, whale watching, paddle boarding, and ATV tours. The wifi didn't...More
I had an amazing time staying at Hotel Villas Playa Samara, especially after several busy days exploring Costa Rica with a tour group. The pool and beach were relaxing and beautiful. The room was always clean and comfortable.

Had to stay here as part of our tour package. What a disappointing four day end to our eight day tour.
Where to start with this place????This place needs so much updating. We had upgraded to ocean view only to realize when we got there...More
Great location. Terrible management. We had an early dinner at a restaraunt in downtown Samara with friends who were staying at this hotel and visiting from Canada. We live in Samara. We drove them back to the hotel and there were two guards at the...More
Be very careful when booking a trip here. Read through the reviews carefully. I wished that we had completed more research on this place. Every year we go on a trip and choose a resort to stay for a week. This is more of a...More

Very quiet at night, usually entertainment until 9 PM, but again, people who wanted night life went into town. Not all excursions are far from the resort, ATV tour is a nice option, they have ATV's right on resort. We did the Costa Rican Adventure Day Pass, about 2.5 hours away from resort.

The trip to the airport is over an hour away. Im not sure about the construction because I was there in 2016. They have many villas and its very pretty there, its lie having your own personal cabin. In th daytime you can hear the lizards climbing the terracotta roof. Near the back of the resort near the wall, you can see monkeys during the morning in the trees. There is a small town nearby with a supermarket but there isnt much to do there. The resort does book excursions. They have colonays, not sure about the spelling. There is a bank in the town. You must bring your passport to use it. You approach the door and a security guard will open the door, you then walk through a metal detector and then its like a normal bank. The pool bar shuts down at 6, but you can swim 24/7. The water is always warm and the lights in the pool change colours at night. There is a very shallow area for kids, but no life guard. They dont really have entertainment. There is coral on the beach and horses have been seen on the beach. The var plays music during the day but it would be nicer if it were a bit louder. I enjoyed my time there but its very laid back.
