Welcome to the Samara Tree House Inn. We offer six luxury tree house style apartments right in the heart of Samara Village. We are located directly ON the beach and in the middle of town, close to numerous activities, shops and restaurants, including surf rentals and lessons next door. These charming tropical hardwood units all have WiFi and are situated amongst beautiful tropical gardens and an idyllic pool with a shallow area for sun tanning while partly submerged in the water. Wake up every morning to breakfast, the sound of the waves, and the cool breeze of the ocean. Don’t walk by and wish you had stayed here. DO stay here!
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Absolutely adorable. I stayed in a treehouse unit, and all treehouse units have an amazing beachfront view. Each treehouse unit is upstairs with a large picture window that fully opens. The main room is a sitting area with kitchen and small 2 person bar top table. There is a bathroom with a door and a bedroom at the back of the unit with AC. The main room does not have AC, but is cool at night from the ocean breeze. Hammocks, dining/game tables and comfortable lounge chairs fill the areas below the treehouses. There are grills and a shower to rinse off the salt and sand. Lovely pool and entire property is gated as well. Treehouse units are perfect for solo or couple, and there are poolside bungalows well suited for a small family. Plenty of beachside surf schools and restaurants within walking distance. Staff is warm and friendly. This was a one night trip for me, while staying in Nosara (1 hour drive). The surf here is smaller and cleaner than May in Nosara and no rip current, so great for beginners/intermediate. Overall, great experience and I’ll return here.

We have stayed here several times and it just gets better! Can't beat the location right on the beach and a few minutes walk to restaurants, groceries. The grocery store across the street is bigger than last time we were here a few years ago and carries most things. There are also a couple of bigger grocery stores within a short walking distance. They now have lunch, dinner and drinks available right at the Tree House in addition to the usual included breakfast. We requested a red snapper dinner and it was fabulous and very reasonably priced. About$25 each for seafood bisque, fish with potatoes and vegetables and dessert. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We also had great massages right here by Shirley and Stefan, highly recommend their services! We'll definitely be back!

Everything about our stay at Samara Tree House was absolutely perfect. The location can't be beat, it's right on the beach and close to everything; stores, shops and restaurants are all an easy 5 minute walk. The tree houses are very cool, unique, and comfortable with an open air living space, an air conditioned bedroom and a truly amazing view. The staff is exceptional, very accommodating and prepare a delicious breakfast every morning to start your day. The pool is cool and refreshing and the outdoor dining and patio space underneath the tree house are very nice. If you are looking for an amazing place to stay in Samara with a great Costa Rican feel and experience than this is the place. We couldn't imagine staying anywhere else!

This is our fourth year staying at the Treehouse and have reserved our 2 weeks for next year already. The location can’t be beat-within walking distance of many restaurants, bars, grocery stores, shopping. No need for a car. I can’t say enough good things about the staff-friendly, helpful, attentive. A big, delicious breakfast is served everyday on the patio under your treehouse. The beach is just outside the gate. Beautiful view from inside your Treehouse. The only downside is that as word about this idyllic hotel, it is harder to get a reservation!

We stayed for a week in one of the poolside rooms and enjoyed it immensely. You can literally walk out of the hotel, onto he beach and into the action. The included breakfast was simple but substantial and varied from day to day -- somedays eggs and toast, somedays pancakes or French toast, somedays an omelette. The staff was friendly and accommodating; in particular, Isamar was most helpful in arranging tours, transport, etc. The hotel is right across the street from a small supermarket and excellent restaurant (Samara Sushi), so it can be a bit noisy in the evenings. Although our room offered a/c, we prefer not to have cold air blowing on us in the night, so we slept with the window open. Unfortunately, it didn't have a screen so the local mosquito population is now well-fed. Also we had a busted toilet seat and the bathroom often smelled of sewer gas. Still in all, we had a great time at the Treehouse Inn. Sadly, when we tried to get a reservation for next year, we found all the treehouse units already booked for the time we plan to come.

We just experienced two wonderfully relaxing weeks at the Samara Tree House Inn. If you are looking for a traditional Costa Rican "Pura Vida" experience, this is definitely the place to stay. First, it is conveniently located in the charming "tico" downtown of Samara with beachfront access. The location is exceptional, as you wake up in the morning to the sights and sounds of the ocean a stone's throw away. Its rustic unique look draws much attention of people passing by. This was our 4th stay at the resort. We are repeat customers for a reason - we love it! The staff has been consistent over the years and consider themselves "family." They are extremely friendly, courteous, professional, and helpful. We have had the privilege of developing personal relationships with each one. The Treehouse provides a very clean and safe environment. The amenities are simple but adequate. A traditional breakfast is served every morning which we found delicious and substantial. Rooms are cleaned and prepared daily always with a "touch of love." There's a very nice small pool for cooling off or for an extra workout. If you need a massage, transportation, laundry service or anything else, the staff will very willingly arrange these services for you. This is not intended nor presented as a "5 star hotel," but if you are looking for a relaxing quiet stay in a charming Costa Rican town, we would give it 5 stars! It is also a wonderful meeting place to make friends with other guests. We would recommend Samara Tree House unconditionally for those looking for a traditional Costa Rican experience! Norm & Susan

We absolutely loved our stay here. To begin, the property is quite unique, the elevated, natural wood rooms provide an unparalleled view of the beach and the ocean. The room was clean, the bedroom air conditioned and the large front window provided hours of joy, just looking out. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the daily breakfast was fine. We didn't use the pool, we did use the hammock extensively.
The location is perfect. Just outside the gate is a large beach with palm trees at the edge. The ocean in this location was the perfect temperature, the waves were intense but fun. The beach is frequented by both tourists and locals.
The surrounding neighborhood offers a variety of restaurants, bars, markets, fruit vendors and more.

I just checked out of the Treehouse Inn this morning and moved to another hotel and I miss it already! The ONLY reason I moved is they didn’t have availability the entire time.
The treehouses are lovely, and the AC keeps you cool at night as long as you keep your bedroom door closed. The table / hammock / lounges under the treehouse is an added bonus. The view is amazing, food was good, and wonderful staff! Plus I made a BFF, who I named Strawberry Shortcake (you’ll see a pic of her attached).
A nice market is across the street and it’s walking distance from everything Samara has to offer. I will definitely stay her again and highly recommend this place. It did storm really bad one night so we ran to the restaurant above the store across the street. Samara Sushi - I highly recommend and glad we stumbled on it due to the storm!
Only negative - if you’re a light sleeper, a lot of motor bikes go by in the late evening. It didn’t bother us but could bother some. You can also easily hear what’s going on outside from the treehouse, again, didn’t bother us. Thanks for the wonderful stay!!

This beautiful gem of a hotel saved our trip from a hellish Airbnb situation! The staff was very understanding, welcoming, and extremely friendly. The hotel it’s is located right on the beach which makes its location impossible to beat. The rooms were clean, very spacious, and with AC included (which is rare to find in Samara). We had to do some work on our laptops some of the days, and the wifi was very fast and reliable, not to mention how amazing it was to work with a view of the ocean while on a hammock :) Overall a must stay for anyone visiting this lovely town!

This was our 12th year staying at the Tree House. I can't say enough on how wonderful it is: the location is perfect, pool is great, wonderful breakfast and a staff that is fantastic! Breakfast includes a fruit plate and a different choice each day of either eggs, pancake or french toast. Coffee is always on. The staff has been there forever. After spending 10 days there, we were going to Tambor for 4 days but my husband got sick the day we were to leave and didn't feel up to taking the trip. Isamar was fantastic finding us a place to stay for 2 nights because the Tree House was booked, then back for the final 2 days. We are already booked for next year, they are the best ever!!

My wife and I, 60 and 65 years old, enjoyed immensely our time in the ocean here. The water temperature (in early April) was lovely, and, much of the time, the water was calm, enabling us to swim; occasionally, the waves were large/strong enough to be more suitable for the surfing school that operates here. I did not snorkel, so I cannot advise regarding that activity, but I saw others using masks, snorkels, and fins..
