We were hesitating at first to stay at a hostel in Samara, since it can be great fun if the people are fitting but it can also become the worst nightmare. The latter is something I would like to avoid in a 2 week vacation. Gladly, it turned out to be the absolute best choice we could have thought of.... More

We stayed at this hostel in July 2016. After reading great reviews, we reserved a three night stay. We are seasoned budget travelers and staying at a hostel is not out of the ordinary for us. We are a family with two kids, and we were also traveling with another couple that also has a child. Unfortunately, when we arrived,... More

It is very unfortunate that you didn`t enjoy your stay with us. Please be aware that this is a hostel and not a family hotel. We cant ask our guest to go to bed at 8 so your kids can sleep. We have a reasonable quiet time at 11 well readable for all guests and if someone doesn`t respect that... More

A nice hostel near the beach! Staff were really helpful, the common area had a good selection of games and a nice book exchange! The two kitchens were great as the space was never crowded and they were well equipped, and the little kitten Simba provided entertainment!

Hostel Matilori was one of my most favorite places while traveling trough costa rica for the second time. A home away from home in an amazing place Samara. Very clean for a hostel and the perfect place to relax and get the real Pura Vida feeling. Jen & Fran arranged a dolphin tour and it was amazing. They help you... More

I began a 3 month solo trip through Central America in Samara and was looked after her by Franc and Jen excellently. It has a very homely feel and I found it difficult to leave! I spent the week at the language school but Franc and Jen invited me to different things going on around the town which was brilliant.

Hostel Matilori was without a doubt the best place I stayed while backpacking in Costa Rica for 2 weeks. The facilities were very clean, and the staff were beyond helpful. They went out of their way to make my time there an amazing experience; from playing awesome music (seriously just get jen on the guitar), to bringing me along for... More

With a very laid back atmosphere and genuine people from the managers to the people that we met.. made the experience in Costa Rica that much better. It was the opposite of a cold atmosphere you get from staying in a hotel.. we had a simple set up and they were very accommodating when they got any requests. I would... More

Wow, what a wonderful hostel! Stayed here with my family over the Christmas holidays and even though we were away from our extended family we were quickly adopted into this hostel family. A great place to meet fellow travellers because it is inclusive and inviting. We had a fabulous Christmas Eve BBQ with singing and games. Jen and Fran are... More

Samara and the hostel Matilori were the best places we've visited so far in Panama and Costa Rica. The hosts Fran and Jen were very friendly and prepared a very nice BBQ at Christmas eve. The hostel is small, clean, with a nice garden and a nice atmosphere. If we hadnt already other plans we would have staied there for... More
