Very friendly owner(?). We had a problem with a smell in our room, she was very apologetic about it and we got to change room. The room was very clean so the smell was probably because of rain or the AC or something. The place it self is very cozy, and relaxed. Some reviews complains about small rooms. They are,...

The room was basic but clean and the courtyard created a nice atmosphere with hammocks, a kitchen, and a small pool. We had a little trouble finding the hotel at first, but once we found it the location was convenient yet quiet. Great value option for a budget trip!

I enjoyed my stay here. It's a little over over a five minute walk to the beach. The rooms are small but honestly you aren't going to spend much time in it anyway. There is a nice patio/pool area if you want to sit out in the morning before heading to the beach. There is a kitchen available if you...

We have been coming to stay at Mahayana for 3 years and we absolutely love it. It has everything you need and so close to everything in Tamarindo but nice and quiet as well. The new pool is a huge bonus! Rooms and bathroom are always very clean, and the air conditioning works a treat after a hot day at...

A fully equipped kitchen was avaiable for guests to make their meals and breakfast. The best thing was the hostess, Carine, who was always avaible and cared for all the...

This place is located just a short walk away from the middle of town and beach, but it is far enough away to be peaceful. The owner is absolutely fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and simple. The common kitchen was very useful as we were able to make several meals ourselves.

This place was an oasis in our trip. The owner Carine made our stay unforgettable. She was always ready to help us out or give us the best information. The little hotel was great too. The rooms and pool are cute and comfortable. It is all very clean (they clean every day) and with a very relaxed atmosphere. You can...

Stayed at the mahayana for 2 nights of our two week costa rica trip. Was easy to find on sat nav. A short walk from the noise and lights of tamarindo. We didn't actually like the town of tamarindo, found it to be vary noisy and touristy especially at night it was a bit trashy for us but the beach...

Positives: 1. Rooms were clean. 2. Bathroom was spacious and shower had good water pressure 3. Air conditioning available 4. Staff was friendly and nice. Although they couldn't accommodate a late checkout, they did let us leave our bags at the front deck and offered us water and even a shower as we waited for the bus. 5. Quiet place...

The place is located only a few minutes walk to the beach and the centre of tamarindo, which is very convenient. The place stays very quiet and you are not affected at all by the noise level of the tamarindo night life. The rooms are very confortable and so are the beds. Carine is just the perfect kind of host...
