The research station is just the perfect place to stay, if you are interesting in sleeping between all the animals. The walk back to bed in the night is quite a adventure. The service is great. Additionaly to that you can do interesting tours at the day and night time and learn a lot. We would love to come back.

La Selva is one of the first biológica station in Costa Rica, owned and managed by the Organization for Tropical Studies. The nature guided walk is really enjoyable, thanks to La Selva's knowledgeable staff.

La Selva is unique because it offers the opportunity to see wildlife that isn't seen in some of the more well-known parks in Costa Rica. When we visited, we saw Great Green Macaws and Long-tailed Tyrants up close and personal, and that was on the driveway before we even reached the parking lot! On the trails we saw a lot...

We were lucky enough to hear about this place at the Tabacon resort, when we realized we could not book at the proyecto asis wildlife rescue center when we arrived at our resort. We toured with a guide at 1:30 in afternoon and saw all the wildlife we thought we would see in Costa Rica. We were rained out in...

This is one of the O.T.S. facilities in Costa Rica. Visitors can pay a fee to enter, hire a guide, and sped a few hours wandering around trails looking for birds, tony frogs, etc. The guide they supplied was good, but not as good as then private guide who accompanied us. We visited after breakfast, which may have not been...

My wife and I spent three nights. I am a serious amateur birder, she is a photographer newly into photographing birds. The station has a wide variety of amazing birds, and, more important, bird guides who really know their stuff. I went on two guided birding walks starting early in the morning, and we went on one fascinating night walk....

As a scientist and professional nature photographer, I know that any authentic wildlife encounter requires patience, attention and luck. La Selva Biological Station provides one of the greatest opportunities to observe rainforest flora and fauna in all of Costa Rica. The rustic accommodations meld with the wild surroundings and the sounds of myriad birds, howler monkeys and insects permeated my...

This was truly a magical place. We loved spending time with the scientists and students here. Our room was basic and fit our needs. The food in the cafeteria was simple and very good. The staff were very helpful and the birding guides were wonderful. We will return.

This visit was arranged by our tour company so we did not have to worry about the bureaucracy other reviewers have mentioned. Our guide, Octavio, was excellent and helped us see a great variety of birds while we were there. He took us to a range of different locations to see different creatures. This included a particular type of fig...

My wife and I have stayed at the La Selva Biological Station several times in the last 15 years, the last being February 2017. We would not return did we not enjoy the experience. For those that don't know, La Selva is one of three biological research stations in Costa Rica run by the Organization for Tropical Studies - based...
