Step off the road and into a different world. Raised wooden cabins in the trees and gardens. No aircon, as a conservation area. 2 double beds and a reasonable bathroom. with a step down to a large shower area. The windows have mess wire, not glass, and shutters. The buffet restaurant is in the main block and up stairs. There...

A hidden gem just off the highway. A privately owned oasis in the ecological design of Costa Rica. The government and private parties join together to protect and preserve the wonders of nature for future generations.

This was our third stop on the 7 day Thomson's Grand Tour and we stayed here for one night. The location is perfect but the hotel is disappointing. A basic room with no air con and a poor shower. The wooden lodge style rooms are in blocks of 4 or 6 and due to their construction and lack of windows...

Dear Guest, Thank you for letting us know about the elements that we can improve. We are working on a plan to better isolate the sounds between the rooms. We want to do this without blocking out the wonderful nature sounds from the forest at night and the morning wake up calls from the howler monkeys. Thank you for letting...

We stayed only for one night which wasn't nearly enough time! The lodge consists of a number of timber lodges raised off the ground with basic amenities. A central dining area and room for lectures and presentations. Don't expect 5 star accommodation as this is not designed as a holiday hotel but a place to stay whilst exploring the local...

I visited Selva Verde with my partner on recommendation of my tour operator Tribes Travel. Well designed series of lodges set in a landscape next to the sarapiqui river. Easy access from San Jose on sealed roads. Stayed in a bungalow set back in the forest 500m away from the main area which was fantastic! Simple accommodation , comfortable bed,...

Costa Rica get eco-tourism, and this lodge near Sarapiqui understands the importance and balance. We stayed in the private house onsite, which was huge. The site is amazing and full of wildlife. There are many great tours to be had on site, but we did most of the trips ourself. Has a small but nice pool to relax in, which...

My wife, 7-yr old daughter, and I spent 3 nights here. We loved the place. Our room overlooked the river and it was very nice and quiet. We liked the covered, elevated walkways that connected the various detached room units with other parts of the resort such as the restaurant, the reception building, the car park, etc. It rained a...

A cottage feeling in a wonderful environment. Bird lovers paradise! Simple rooms, nothing special, but different and OK. Breakfast was very good. A lof of small frogs and birds, nice to walk in the park on your own on both sides of the road.

We LOVED this place from the minute we walked in and were welcomed by Gus, who has to be the friendliest man in all of Costa Rica! There was nothing particularly special about the rooms or the food or the beds etc- but the overall environment and the amount we learnt and did in just a 2 night stay was...
