Standards seemed to have slipped. Most people stay here for the wildlife and photography around the feeders. Can you believe no food on feeders because they had no bananas, cue for a song and a first for Costa Rica. Rooms on walkways way large and comfortable but could do with air conditioning. Food in restaurant only adequate and repetitive. Bar...

If you are allocated a room above the Admin building get a refund and go somewhere else. The rooms are used for overspill a few metres from the main road and the constant traffic noise was horrendous. Just one small double bed, you will not find these rooms on their website. Breakfast basic but ok. Walks goods and lots of...

We were here November 18-21 2015. We booked a private bungalow which is about a 10-15 walk, and across a very busy (at times) street, from the main part of lodge. We were the only ones booked into a bungalow so it was really quiet. Even though the room was very basic, it had what we needed. Our room was...

This was my first visit to this lodge and the three nights I had here was part of a 3 week birding trip to CR with a guide/driver (the excellent Diego Quesada). Over the weeks, it certainly wasn't the best maintained and run lodge we stayed (a little rundown in parts) but it's still a very good place with friendly...

Reimer was our guide and he was really great. He found many different animals and was really knowledgeable about them all, as well as funny and personable. He also took photos for us using our cameras if we were struggling to get a good one or couldn't quite make out the animal far away. We've been in Costa Rica a...

Awesome place for ecotourism. Probably not so exciting if you aren't there for ecotourism. We stayed at Selva Verde Lodge last October for a short trip and stayed two days. We went to Costa Rica to experience the biodiversity and do nature photography. This place was really excellent. The grounds are beautiful, there are streams running through with turtles and...

This is an older hotel, a bit on the rustic side. All parts are connected by covered walkways, so you are out of the rain from the reception area to the rooms to the dining area. There are a number of lovely trails right on the grounds for birding and general nature watching. It overlooks the Sarapiqui River, and if...

We stayed here over 20 years ago on our first visit to Costa Rica. The place has changed and is no longer a quaint eco-tourist lodge. This time we were traveling with a friend and opted to stay in the air conditioned bungalows across the highway. Our first trip we stayed on the river. The place is about twice as...

Two years after my first visit to the Reserve I enjoyed it just as much as I did then. With this being the off season there were very few guests which made it even better. I introduced my friend to the reserve and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Waking up to the sound of howler monkeys, a walk around the grounds...

We stayed here in September 2015 for three nights. It's low season, which means that only a few guests occupied this huge resort. The first day we walked the trail opposite the main entrance. This was not great but OK. We could not walk everywhere because of the heavy rainfalls in the recent past. In the evening we decided to...
