This is my sound time staying at the Lodge, but this time I stayed in the buildings across the street. 2 reasons, 1. air-conditioning 2. privacy and better sleep quality. Every day around 4 pm spider monkeys were over our little house. Many birds and different types of monkeys every day, non stop. Breakfast was included and we brought our...

We purchased the birding package at Selva Verde Lodge and it was our first stop upon our arrival to Costa Rica. We had traveled many hours and were exhausted upon arrival. Reception was a slow line of unhappy people trying to work out details with one clerk. At check-in the clerk gave us verbal instructions for 3 days of activities...

The Selva Verde Lodge is right in the rain forest, on the Sarapiqui River. It does help to know this and to understand that there is no air conditioning in the room, so during the rainy season, it is muggy. The rain really does cool things off, and there is a ceiling fan, so it actually is fine at night...

Tucked away in the rainforest surrounding Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, sitting on both sides of the river bank, is Selva Verde Lodge. It is home to the Sarapiqui Conservation & Learning Center, whose mission is to educate the young through ecotourism for conservation awareness. In fact, we saw classes gathered and running about like boy and girl-scouts and bungalows areas...

Creatures of all sorts everywhere, day and night. Tree frogs in every color, snakes, turtles, howler monkeys, lizards, birds ... oh the birds! Trogons, tanagers, vireos, motmots, cotingas, potoos, puffbirds, macaws, toucans and quetzals. A nature lover's dream but not for the faint of heart or mild arachnophobe :-). This lodge is exotic in a wildlife kind of way, but...

My group and I spent five days in Selva Verde Lodge and as soon as we arrived we were greeted with very friendly employees. The forest that surrounds the lodge is very beautiful and there are so many species to see, from birds, to reptiles, and even monkeys! Make sure that you close all your backpacks, suitcases, etc. because pesky...

We spent two days in this hotel during our CR round trip and had a great time. Among many good things the very hospitable staff and the spacious rooms stand out. The private jungle trail is an easy 1,5 hour walk through the forest (and the mud) which was very enjoyable. There's also a small but nice pool and a...

So we spent just 1 night here but we were glad we came. The hotel has recently been terribly flooded so there was a lot of damage to the grounds that kept the grounds workers busy and the 'bridge' that people talk about was closed for the first walk - however, the nature around us was amazing. I laid on...

Very good wooden rooms in blocks of 4. Covered walkways between rooms and reception and restaurant (which is nice in the rainy season). A lot of wildlife on the domain. Some self-guided hikes. The restaurant however (buffet style) is pretty average. We did a night hike and that is amazing : snakes , frogs , insects , lizzards. In contradiction...

We only stayed one night so only a brief review... The rooms were excellent, large, two double beds. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of fresh fruit. There were even benches on a balcony to observe the wildlife at a feeding station. A small pool to mess around in and free internet for the children!. No faults on this one.
