All the reviews are right. The owners are wonderful hosts. The bungalows are beautiful (and reminds one of the British bungalows in their former colonies). Incredibly well-kept gardens. Who could ask for more? Hosts will provide you guidance for the local attractions if you ask.
Very comfortable - comfy beds with nice sheets, spacious and nicely furnished room, clean. Great pool area, sweet dogs. And in a nice location - close to the town, but not too close, and right across from a really great beach for swimming. Definitely a...More
Awsome place to stay. Bungalows are very well-maintained, fully-equiped. Beach in front is clean and so much fun to play in the waves with the children and the body boards (furnished by the guesthouse). Owners Michel and Gred are awsome hosts. The garden is beautifull....More
I loved our stay at the guesthouse last week. It had some of the best gardens I have seen in all of Costa Rica. The location on playa negra is ideal. It is further from town but I prefer the beach to the town. Very...More

Arenal is about 90 kms northwest of San José; Cahuita to San José is about a 3½ hour drive. I would easily add another 2 hours to get to Arenal and this if traffic is good! A better option is to stay in Alajuela first, visit the volcano and then head to Cahuita. Going to Poás Volcano is also a great option. You can stop off at the Doka coffee plantation and the La Paz waterfalls/ animal sanctuary. Very interesting! We stayed in San José in order to do this excursion. We hired a guide and went by minivan. Good luck.
