We had a room in Totem and learned that they are merging with Cariblue. This is fantastic, because the pool at Cariblue is awesome, while the one at Totem is tiny, shallow and ugly. It is also located next to the street. Our room was clean and lovely, the shower and bathroom were clean and worked. We had twin beds,...

Service was great. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Fook was ok... Music from the pool could be heard on the room which at times wasnt appreciated, but a very good stay overall. The beach is walking distance and so is the town, but wouldnt recommend walking alone at night because of the town's insecurity.

We loved staying in Hotel Cariblue - it is only a short walk to Playa Cocles the best surf beach of the region: the hotel is very clean, has a wonderful garden, the personnel is very friendly, the food is nice and it is close to the beach - thanks ! Leen

Having read some of the other review we would like to say first that the food in the Restaurant was very good, we ate here 4 out of our 5 nights stay and each time had wonderful and very tasty meals served by very friendly and helpful staff. In particular Karlin (pronounced Karen) she is always smiling. Our idea here...

We spent 3 days at Cariblue in late November. It has a wonderful rainforest setting which is very close to a nice beach. The restaurant had very good meals at a reasonable price. The breakfasts were served on time and with good quality food.

Let me first clarify that we did not stay at Cariblue, but merely ate dinner one night at their restaurant, SoleLuna, so I cannot speak about the hotel itself. The food was bland and uninspired, from the dry chicken breast to the tasteless fish fillet. Be warned that if you are not staying at Cariblue, they charge a 13% tax...

We stayed at this hotel with our 2 kids for 3 nights and enjoyed this place. We loved the rain-forest setting. The breakfast was very good. We loved the laid back culture and enjoyed in Puerto Viejo the most during our trip. You have to walk a bit to get to the beach and beach there is not safe for...

I didn't stay here, but I did take surf lessons for a week a half, which was organized by my hostel in Manzanillo. Adrian runs the surf lessons and board rental- very professional and organized! Communicated very well, making sure to call me and let me know each day whether or not the waves would allow for lessons on playa...

Went on a family vacation in early Oct and stayed at Totem. About a 10 minute walk to "town" in Puerto Viejo. The room was excellent, comfy and the staff was friendly. They spoke broken English, we spoke broken Spanish so it all worked out :) Nice pool, and accommodations. They included a free breakfast every morning which was great...
