Turned up as our booked accommodation was not up to standard. Rooms here we're glad the price and twice as nice. Rooms were loved with a great balcony and hammock area. Ticked all the boxes. Not fancy but nowhere is in Tortuguero. It was basic but clean and spacious, perfect for what we were after. The owner and her husband... More

Poor standard of accommodation even if it is budget accommodation. The bathroom smelt disgusting. I stayed one night instead of three. It was booked by someone else so I got an unpleasant surprise. I did see other rooms and mine was the worst to be fair but none of them were great.

We arrived at Tortuguero around noon without a reservation. We tried a few spots that we had researched online, but most places were already full. We wandered along and found Miss Miriam's 2. They had to options available for us on their second floor. We chose the one on the corner as the two windows provided a cross breeze. There... More

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. It's right across from the ocean and I think a few rooms has ocean view. #8 our room did and has a cool little covered balcony. Great for sitting outside and enjoying the seasonal rains. If you contact them ahead of time you can arrange for a water taxi to come... More

We stayed for 2 nights here. The room is clean. But very hot. No AC. Good location. You can sometimes pick up coconuts on the grounds. It has a cute bar where you can see the beach. The village is very small very local. We had a good time here. Most time in the village you had nothing to do.... More

No thrills rooms with satisfactory bathrooms and nice owner (Mauricio). Nothing was wrong about this place. Very close to the beach (ocean). They will lend you umbrellas if it rains. Very quiet at night.

On March 7th, shortly after breakfast, we embarked in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí on a river boat, first heading north towards Trinidad where the clear Río Sarapiquí gently blends with the chocolate coloured Río San Juan, then further along the Nicaraguan border heading east in the direction of the Caribbean Sea from where a canal leads to Tortuguero. An enchanting... More

Nice and quiet, close to the beach on walking distance to the village. Ask for room 4 as it is I think the only one with A/C at no extra charge. They pick you up at the dock so you don't have to carry your luggage. Bring cash as a hefty 13% is charged for credit card payments and there... More

The hotel owner advised that we book our tours (turtle tour / canals tour) through them and not anyone else selling tours along the way, saying that those tours sometimes turn out to be bogus. So we waited and booked the tour through them - big mistake. Our canal tour was due to start at 5:40 am, so we woke... More

We only reserved a room here because Casamarbella wasn't available for a third night (as an aside, the folks at Casamarbella were right, two days in Tortuguero is enough). The place did not look as nice as Casamarbella, but looked okay. We never got to see a room, as they had lost our reservation. After giving them the date we... More
