This is a fun place if you are not looking for nightlife (except animals). The hotel is located on the strand between the river and the beach. Most other hotels are on the other side of the river with no walking access to the turtle nests or town. I was initially concerned about no AC in the rooms but evenings...

We were on a Mystery Trip to Costa Rica from Canada so did not pick this hotel ourselves. This was a wonderful place to stay, rustic but clean, beautiful grounds and the food was good with lots of choices. Enjoyed the butterfly garden and the tour of the grounds using the chart for learning the names for different plants. The...

We stayed for 2 nights at the beginning of our Costa Rica holiday. We weren't expecting 5 star luxury and this wonderful Lodge was perfect - great location, sandwiched between the ocean and the river. Great food, very comfortable room and extremely friendly staff. An amazing base for touring the area to see the abundance of wildlife - the early...

This was our first trip to Costa Rica and stayed three nights at Mawamba Lodge. We thoroughly enjoyed Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero. The staff are friendly, helpful, courteous. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Rooms are basic, but nice and clean. Plenty of good food included, buffet style Costa Rican fare. Our guide, Frank, was terrific and with Bernardo,...

Stayed at the place and the service was great, had a super guide. Food was excellent and rooms were nice and clean. The turtle tour is a must as well as the boat tour along the canals. It is a recommendation and as it is low season, there were very few people which made it even better

Tortuguero is probably my favorite place in Costa Rica and I've been fortunate enough to visit on many occasions over the last 25 years. This was however, my first time at Mawamba Lodge and also my first time in Costa Rica during the rainy season. The primary purpose of this visit was to see the Green Turtles laying on the...

every aspect of this trip was incredible. from our guide Richard Smith, to the lodge, to the food and other people visiting this beautiful country. One suggestion, if you are not used to the heat and humidity, try to prepare yourself as much as possible. no A/C in the rooms

The Mawamba lodge was the first place were we stayed during our incredible journey in Costa Rica. The lodges are situated around the the central building and we were lucky to have a lodge near the beach. The lodge was fully equiped with a ceiling fan enough lamps and space to store the lugage and most important the bed was...

We booked the 2 nights, 3 days package in Sep. We are not keen on packages but this is seems the only economical way to visit Torguero due to its secluded location. We booked as a party of 2 (my wife and I) and were surprised to be added to a Dutch tour group of 17 others that we didn't...

The thing to remember about this place is that it is a wildlife lodge, so don't expect it to be wall to wall luxury. The rooms are basic, but clean, no aircon or any other electrical gadgets. Beds are big and comfy, but due to getting up early and returning late, you don't spend much time in them! The food...
