Rafiki means “friend” and we believe we made some amazing friends here this week! I cannot say enough about Lautjie and Mauren, and the incredible staff that is Rafiki!! We took 15 family members and two “nannies” to help with the little ones, to Rafiki, signing up for the “super leaker safari package” which included 6 nights accommodation, transport from San Jose, and activities and meals every day. Our tents were super comfy Our food was delicious every meal Our adventures were thrilling The swimming pools and slide were a fabulous refuge after an adventure out Lautjie was exceptionally patient and flexible as plans needed to be changed to accommodate the needs of each family The setting is stunningly picturesque We didn’t want to leave! Our last two nights were in their facility on the beach, just as lovely S it was different. If you’re wondering about this destination, I hope my review encourages you to pack your bags and go! You will not regret it. We have made some incredible memories that will last a life time! Thanks Rafiki! God bless the amazing conservation work you are doing there too 🌸🌸🌸

Although there are a ton of options for a white water rafting tour of the Sevegre River, we decided to go with Rafiki since they were the closest to the drop off and pick up spots. Because of COVID, we wanted to drive ourselves to the location. When we arrived at Rafiki Safari Lodge we were greeted by staff. We sat for 10 minutes and enjoyed the view. Kenneth and Randall picked us up and we drove 10 minutes in their truck to the drop off spot. Randall gave us a quick lesson and then we were off on the water. We did this experience with our 10 year old son and 14 year old daughter. Kenneth was informative, kind, funny and entertaining. Although I was apprehensive and so was my son, Kenneth was such an expert that he immediately put us at ease. We had a superb time. We all were said when our journey ended. We would book this experience again. 5 stars for Kenneth and Randall.

Everything about Rafiki was great! The rooms provided a perfect balance between comfort and enjoying the outdoors. All of our meals were fantastic, especially the fish. We did two excursions with Rafiki. The first was a night hike. Despite the rain, the guide Randol took us out on short notice and we truly experienced the rainforest. We were able to see tons of life from frogs to bats to glowing mushrooms. The other excursion was a white water rafting trip. Our guides Jairo and Alan kept us safe and gave us an amazing trip. We were able to enjoy the rapids as well as spot wildlife like snakes and unique plants. A stop at a secluded waterfall with fresh fruit served as a nice break in the middle.

This river rafting experience has it all. Hilariously fun and educated tour guides rock a balance of safety and excitement while leading the river rapid adventures. Delicious food and water activities at the lodge as well, and don’t forget about the stellar view! I would’ve payed hundreds for this experience, and was so surprised at how affordable it was. Highly recommend!

We recently spent 4 days and 3 nights at Rafiki Lodge and had an amazing experience. It is set up like an African tented camp, with tents overlooking several bodies of water and rain forest. Our tent had a double and two single beds, a veranda overlooking the scenery, and a full bathroom (glamping not camping). The staff, who are residents of the nearby village of Santo Domingo, are very friendly and capable. The food and service were very good. The bird life around the lodge is amazing and there are several hikes you can take through the forest surrounding the lodge. The white water rafting was exciting, with very competent guides. We took a guided hike to two spectacular water falls and a nearby village which is closely tied to the Lodge and functions as a cooperative to produce vanilla and other products. The Lodge is surrounded by two national parks and serves as a permanent nature reserve. We highly recommend the lodge and hope to return again someday.
