The accommodation was rustic, charming and in keeping with the environment. Delightful. The communal areas were welcoming and comfortable, with great opportunity for lizard and bat spotting, amongst others. The staff were welcoming, caring and knowledgeable. Always a smile. Nothing too much trouble. Food was a set menu, but fresh, well cooked and excellent for both meat eaters and vegetarians....

This lodge really lives up to the title of Ecological lodge . It has an abundance of reptiles and amphibians which can be viewed at the lodge or in thesurrounding rainforest, On the way down for dinner be careful wher you put your feet as there are frogs everywhere. The food is excellent and the lodges are well maintained. Howeve3r...

I stayed in Esquinas mainly for hiking in the rainforest, and the trails there are very good. I hiked both with the guide Chico and alone, and even though you won't see a lot of wildlife the forest is so tranquil and wild that the hike it self is a good experience. I also did a night hike around the...

The place is located on the edges of Piedras Blancas NP, that the owners of the lodge, help to consolidate raising money in Austria. The lodge is nice, simple, clean, and the food extraordinary, with elements of Costa Rica cuisine, probably the plus of the experience. Good for birding, not that good for mammals. The trails at the private reserve...

Thank you for your positive comments. The best thing you can do for our lodge and the Rainforest of the Austrians is to recommend us to friends! We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Michael Schnitzler

We could not have been happier during our stay at this lodge. The food was superb, not just typical Costa Rican cuisine. Our group leader, who grew up in Costa Rica, even asked for several recipes! But the birding was even better as we got several hard to get species with the help of guides from the lodge. The fresh...

This is a jaw dropping lodge camp set on the edge of the Piedras Blancas NP. The wildlife can be seen, especially birds, agouti and coatimundi but if you're hoping for a chance at seeing the elusive jaguar, well...as one of the German staff members pointed out "its not a zoo here" And boy is she right on. LOL, where...

My family was treated to a magical experience in the rainforest. It is impossible to explain all the jungle sounds that you are immersed in. All the staff at the lodge were very friendly, the guide Chico was excellent, and the food was the best we had in Costa Rica. The setting for the Villa where we stayed gave us...

The grounds are beautiful and the food great, but the people are the best part of staying here. They took really good care of us and helped immensely when we missed a flight. Our tour guide turned in to a friend that I hope to see again.

“I loved my cabin, which joined one other, at the top of the cabin area, adjacent to the jungle. I watched two Toucans feeding and courting directly above my cabin. Looking out my door or from my porch I watched the sunrise over the main lodge and tall trees.”
