We only had limited time after a business trip to busy Miami, and we feel so fortunate that we chose a four day stay at the Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge. The lodge is run by wonderfully attentive, fun and helpful staff and guides, who tirelessly pointed out the wonders of the rainforest to us. Snorcheling, a river trip, a waterfall hike,...

We are honored and thrilled that for your short vacation to Costa Rica you came to Nicuesa Lodge for 4 days! Especially when you live so far away in Switzerland! We always recommend staying with us for at least 3 days ... 4 days is better, as you saw, to be able to enjoy as many adventures as you did....

Pros A lovely place away from civilization. Cabins without doors and windows - you sleep in the jungle Very friendly and helpfull staff Only a few guest in early season Cons By far too expensive, especially if you book the cabin suite. Humidity all over! Bring plastic bags to keep clothes dry.

Thank you for your kind comments about our lodge and our staff -- we will pass on your compliments to them. It's true it is very humid in the rainforest in the tropics. Good recommendation for plastic Ziploc and storage bags. Also, in every room and cabin at Nicuesa we have a plastic box with a well-sealing lid to help...

There is no better way to experience the biodiversity of the Osa Peninsula than a stay at Playa Nicuesa. Accessible only by boat, this is one of the most special corners of Costa Rica. We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of May 2011 and we took back a lifetime of memories. By the end of our trip...

If you are looking for the wonders of Golfo Dulce in a luxury place, Nicuesa is for you! Great food, beautiful and comfortable cabin with facilities (including delicious-smelly local made shampoo and soap! Tip: leave the banana conditioner in your hair ;-] ). The beach is wonderful for snorkeling in the search for rocky reef fishes. Staff is really friendly...

Thank you very much for your wonderful review. We're glad you enjoyed your time with us at Nicuesa Lodge! The "delicious smelling" soaps, shampoo and conditioner we use in our lodge are natural and biodegradable, and come from the Costa Rican company Raw Botanicals. You can order it on line to use at home and remember being at Nicuesa! Welcome...

This was my wife and my first experience in eco-lodge tourism. This was a stretch for me because I am one for air conditioning which there is not. Once you got used to the fact you are never really going to get dry then you can enjoy the experience. The staff was fantastic and the food was unbelieveable. My wife...

I just came home from a week at Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge with my 14 year old granddaughter. Although I knew what to expect from visiting their website, the experience, accommodations, guides, staff, food, EVERYTHING was even more superb than I had imagined. It was a joy to learn about and experience the vision of the owners when they created this...

Playa Nicuesa provides a really amazing experience with a combination of a great staff and an awe-inspiring location. This is a perfect destination for a group trip, especially an active and outdoorsy group - we had a group of seven. Because the lodge is both on the beach and surrounded by the rainforest, it offers a diverse range of activities,...

Very well run place, but it is not for everyone...if bugs, sweat and constant contact with the outdoors doesn't work for you, don't go here...but if those things fit as part of your "adventures" go here w/o hesitation. Rustic-luxury would be a good description. Fantastic food in portions that are healthy, knowledgeable guides, considerate, nearly invisible house staff, pier or...

Thank you for your very true description of our lodge. We are so thrilled that you saw a jaguar one morning!!! You are very lucky indeed! Thank you for doing a great job in telling other travelers what it is like at Playa Nicuesa. You'll just have to come back and visit us again to do the waterfall hike!
