Pachamama was our favourite stay in Costa Rica due to many reasons: - Franz, the owner, is a wonderful person and gave us fantastic recommendations (e.g., beaches, surf lessons). While we often felt ripped off in Costa Rica, he was one of the hosts you can trust and who makes you feel at home. - Our bungalow had a fairly...

Pachamama Hotel is the perfect hide-away. Other than sliding open a gate to enter and exit the property, you will not feel as though you are at a hotel. Franz, the proprietor, has nestled his cabanas into the forest foliage at the base of a hill in Malpais. The result is a feeling of solitude and harmony with the rustic...

We'll be back! Next time hopefully with some friends or family so we can rent the house on the property. We stayed in the 2nd floor bungalow, it was perfect with all the amenities including a kitchen so we didn't have to eat out every meal. We were tucked into the beautiful Costa Rican scenery, away from the hustle and...

Hey this was nice, totally chillaxed, great Host in Franz, really made me feel like I'd lived there all my life. Beach is real close by and has a no break area, great for old farts like me, get out to the back line real easy and can launch a stand up paddle any state of tide. But Pachamama was...

Pachamama was an oasis! It was quiet, beautiful, super clean, tranquil and relaxed. But best of all, was the owner and host, Franz. Many reviews mention his dedication and hospitality and I agree whole heartedly! He really made you feel like an old friend. He took care of everything, morning surf trips, supermarket trips, recommendations to anything you can think...

If you are looking for a fantastic surf getaway, I highly recommend staying at Pachamama Tropical Garden Lodge. I stayed for three weeks in January/February and can't wait to go back. The host, Franz, makes you feel like a long lost friend. He helps arrange everything from supermarket trips to surfing lessons to transportation. Most days he would offer to...

So quiet compared to the rest of the area in town. Rent a bike or ATV and don't worry so much about the dust. Simple bungalows at a reasonable price. Set in a beautiful natural area. Walk to the beach. Cook your own food. Full personal kitchen. The owner is incredibly helpful. Speaks English, Spanish, German, and I believe other...

My husband and I just spent 11 nights at Pachamama and we will definitely be back! The location is perfect as it is out of the hustle and bustle of Santa Teresa yet near enough for anything you need or want to do there. There is a nice beach just across the street. Its quiet with the jungle sounds filling...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pachamama Houses and Bungalows is the perfect place for people who like sports, nature, sun and beach. Only 1 km away is Cabo Blanco, the first national park created in Costa Rica, in 1963.We have two bungalows, each with a double bed and shared terrace for $60 a night, monthly $1400. A third bungalow is on a second floor with a double bed and private terrace. All lodgings are fully equipped with hammock, kitchen, fridge, fan, private bathroom with hot water. The house for rent has air condition and is fully equipped. There are 2 bedrooms, a beautiful terrace with BBQ, outside shower, hammock for $140 per night, monthly $2800. We have wireless internet, security 24 hours, private parking and cleaning service. It is the best option, for relaxing and enjoying the nature. We have a lot of wildlife in our tropical garden: butterflies, exotic birds and monkeys hanging around in the trees, and our coati, a sort of raccoon, which always comes to pick up his breakfast from us. The bungalows and the house are about 50m from the beautiful and quiet beach of Mal Pais. Here surfers find perfect waves year round. Air temperature is 30-35 degrees and water 24-26. We offer surfboard rentals and surf lessons. I'm a passionate kite surfer and if there is coming up some wind I'm in the ocean with a 16 m2 Kite. The wind is 15-20 knots from January to May. It is possible to rent a small house for $80 a night as well. It is fully equipped in a very beautiful and quiet place only 200m from the beach. Perfect location for 2 people. Monthly $1500We can reserve a hotel and transfer in San Jose, or book you a rental car in San Jose or in Mal Pais. ... more   less
