I had a great three-day stay at the Hotel Mandarina. The bus between Quepos and the Manuel Antonio beaches and park stops right in front of the hotel so you can easily get to both Quepos and the beaches in 5-10 minutes for about 250 colones (45 cents). It have even been cheaper than that. My room was very nice...

Hola Jos76! Thank You for your positive review of Hotel Mandarina! And thank you for your helpful tips regarding public transportation. The bus stops pretty frequently during the day and is very cheap It stops maybe 100 feet away. We are glad you enjoyed our breakfast and room decor! Hope to see you again! Pura Vida! —Gary A. Wexler

This hotel was nicely located and shady. The room was great, very comfortable bed, great employees (very helpful), and the stay includes breakfast. What I enjoyed the best was seeing the sloth so close up. We were walking in after dinner and he was hanging from bannister. The monkeys also put on a show while we were there. We went...

Hola SolyLuna_12! It's always nice to have a guest who appreciates our Hotel Mandarina and then writes about it! We are glad you found the bed comfortable... there are quite a few hotels in CR that don't get around to upgrading their mattresses as I have found in my travels! We are glad to know our employees were helpful...that is...

We've stayed there for 3 nights, and it was great! the hotel staff was really nice and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. When we arrived to check-in they upgraded us and we got a lovely room from which you could see the pool area and the greenery in the property. Breakfast was great.

We stayed at Hotel Mandarina during our 6 day stay in Manual Antonio. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, ready to give advice on restaurant options and directions in the area. Upon arrival our room was updated and we had a lovely view of the grounds and pool area. I loved waking up and seeing the monkeys in the trees...

My fiance and I stayed at Hotel Mandarina for 2 nights in January 2012. Our safe was broken, so our only option was to put our valuables in our suitcases. On the second night our hotel room was broken into. All of our electronics were stolen in including 2 very nice cameras, Ipod, and cellphone, plus $400 in cash. We...

We had an incident at Hotel Mandarina, the night of January 26th. In the almost 5 years of owning Hotel Mandarina, other than an in-room LCD television being pilfered, this is our first robbery. This is especially troubling to us since we have had walls built around the parts of the property that face uninhabited land. We have a security...

We absolutely loved our stay here!! At first sight from the street, it doesn't look like much, but that's only the reception desk which is separated from the rest of the hotel. The hotel is actually down the driveway in the back, surrounded by jungle. And the rooms are just gorgeous!! They are all stand alone rooms that offer a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Mandarina is a small boutique hotel. It has a history in Manuel Antonio since the early 1990s. It has previously been known as Hotel El Dorado Mojado and Hotel Kekoldi. In 2007, the 12 unit hotel has been given the new name Hotel Mandarina. Mandarina is known as a small orange, like a tangerine, in Costa Rica. Hotel Mandarina is located in Manuel Antonio, just outside the small Pacific coast port town of Quepos. We are at the highest elevation on the main road about halfway between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. If you choose to drive, you can park your rental car in our secure lot behind the reception building. Manuel Antonio is only 3 1/2 hours by car or bus from San Jose, so long as you take the shortest route. Faster yet is a 20 minute plane ride from San Jose on Nature Air or Sansa Airlines. Quepos and Manuel Antonio are fairly easy to navigate since there are only a few main roads. We are just 3 km away from some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica with the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park at the end of the main road. A twenty minute walk down the secondary road from the hotel will bring you to a secluded beach. The local bus stops 50 yards from the hotel and brings you to the main beach or Manuel Antonio National Park in 5 minutes. There are several restaurants and cafes within walking distance as well as services like supermarket, bank/ATM, bars, yoga/spa, gym, and souvenir stores among others. ... more   less
