La Casona lodge is a hostel at the Monteverde Cloud Forest reserve, which prides itself on conservation and sustainability. We stayed in one of the private rooms, which are located on the lower level. It's very simple and clean; don't expect "resort-quality" here. The room had a private adjoining bathroom with plenty of hot water. Our only complaint is how...

It was a treat staying on the grounds and having entry to the cloud forest as part of our accommodation rate. When the weather cleared a bit or we just felt like taking a walk inside it was easy to do so with no thought of extra cost. The meals were freshly cooked with great fresh ingredients and we were...

La Casona lodge is a great place to visit in Monteverde. We were a family of ten and the lodge was great! We all enjoy the night walk and the hikes in the reserve are beautiful. The team is really welcoming and the food is excellent. Weather in much colder and humid than other parts of Costa Rica so be...

I was not expecting anything nice. I booked the room only for its location and I was glad that I did. The park fills up to max capacity early and it's useful to be on the grounds before the busses roll in. The meals included with the stay are scrumptious and include a good mix of local and international meals....

We booked a night at La Casona to be right in the park at dawn and at night. We had a private room on the ground floor that was spacious and clean. The meals were included and we were not disappointed. We got there for lunch and had soup, panini sandwiches and juice. At night, we had to drive to...

My family (group of 4 adults) chose to stay at the lodge for 1 night, as we had just one (half) day to visit the Cloud Forest, and wanted the proximity for our early morning hike the next day. Rose Mary was very kind in helping us plan for our booking and greeting us on arrival. The value is quite...

The best thing about staying here was being able to get into the forest one hour before the tour groups arrived. However, the room was quite basic. You have to pay for full board - breakfast and lunch were good but for dinner we had to drive 3km on a terrible road to Tramonti Restaurant - in itself a good...

Combine 27 middle school students, 6 adult chaperones, three guides, and one tour bus driver into a hostel and what do you get? Some griping. Granted, the rooms themselves are nice, clean, and contain most amenities, the lodge itself is steps away from the paths of the Cloud Reserve. However, stuffing six teenage girls into one room to share a...

We stayed 1 night at the biological reserve in the Cloud Forest and couldn't ask for a better time. Being so isolated we were the only people staying that night so we had the entire place to our self! We arrived in the morning and immediately dropped off our luggage and went on a guided day hike from the lodge....

Nice place to stay if you are interested in spending most of your time in the cloud forest and away from the towns of Monteverde/Santa Elena. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is very accommodating. A benefit of staying here is that the price includes your daily park entrance fees and you are allowed to access Monteverde...
