If you want an Internet connection and hot water, where it is simply not required, then stay away. If, on the other hand you want to experience living on the edge of a tropical rainforest with no road access and a feeling of being well off the beaten track then pay it a visit. Fantastic location with accommodation overlooking the...

This was my second visit to Marenco after a gap of 15 years and happily very little had changed. Don't expect luxury, the rooms are basic but clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Typical Costa Rican food is served and its very good. If you want to stay in touch with the outside world this is probably not the...

My husband and I just returned from 10 days at Punta Marenco Lodge. It is a fabulous place for experiencing the life of the Osa Peninsula, or for relaxing, both of which we did. I would highly recommend Punta Marenco Lodge for those who would like a true rainforest experience and a relaxing atmosphere, away from the crowds. The huts...

Marenco is a great rainforest getaway. From the time we arrived on the boat the lodge was wonderful. The staff was very helpful and the food was fantastic. You can't beat the location. My wife and I took a guided rainforest hike and went snorkeling (we suggest both). Each individual hut is spacious and some offer a view of the...

You're going to hear a biased opinion from me because I love nature in the tropics. That said, my stay at Marenco was one of the most enjoyable 5 days if my life...and I've been to a lot of places. The setting was gorgeous, even if you're not into such things--the beaches, the old-growth trees hundreds of feet tall, and...

I stayed in a bungalow which had 2 double beds in it and nothing else. Not even a chair to sit in. The porch had 2 old, uncomfortable chairs to sit in, sort of like a hammock chair. The electricity is turned off from 11 pm until 7 am. (not mentioned on their web site) Therefore, hard to sleep due...

Unfortunately, the rainy season started in April for us. We got rained on every day we were at the Marenco. The first room they put us in was the furthest possible from the dining hall and the meeting area. This was unfortunate as we had small children. After the first night they moved us closer. The first room was in...

We stayed at Marenco in late March 2007. If you are someone who likes/needs air conditioning, whirlpools, shopping, gormet dining options, or room service you will not be happy here. On the other hand, if you love being close to nature, hearing howler moneys outside your room, hiking on trails connected directly to the property, and eating well prepared food...

We just got back from 10 days in beautiful Costa Rica, 4 of which were spent at Marenco. Of almost 300 pictures we took, almost 200 were taken here - if that tells you anything of the absolute beauty of this place. The Bad: The rooms were rustic - small huts, no A/C - there is a fan but when...
