SANTA JUANA RURAL MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE LODGE & NATURE RESERVE Created to immerse our guests in an authentic Costa Rica rural mountain experience, Santa Juana Lodge takes you back to a simpler time, far from the stressful life of the modern world. Life in the jungle-covered slopes of the Central Pacific Mountains revolves around an agricultural tradition and the simple adventures of hiking, waterfall swimming, horseback riding, and exploring the nature reserve. This is an exclusive retreat, with beautifully appointed, freestanding cabins along the crest of a hillside ridge, each with panoramic views of the Pacific Mountain Wet Forest against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean spanning the horizon. Santa Juana is staffed by residents of the tiny Pueblo of Santa Juana. You’ll delight in their hospitality, enjoy delicious local food prepared in the traditional ways of the Costa Rican campesinos, and drink deeply of that most elusive commodity in our busy, hectic world — genuine relaxation. SANTA JUANA RURAL MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE TOUR There is no experience quite like the combination of the “magic of nature” and Costa Rica’s authentic rural heritage on this, our highest-rated tour. Greentique Certified Guides take you on an amazing tour of nature, conservation, and rural culture. You’ll hike along lush jungle-shrouded slopes where three rivers are born, then swim in one of the regions most pristine natural pool beneath a mesmerizing waterfall, spot all kinds of fascinating wildlife, fish for tilapia, visit an authentic sugar mill powered by massive oxen, and horseback ride (optional). Then step back in time to enjoy a traditional Campesino-style lunch while enjoying the panoramic vista of Manuel Antonio National Park and the Pacific Ocean that fills the horizon. You’ll also become a vital participant in the Carbon Offset/Native Tree Reforestation Program, adopting your own tree as you help conserve this priceless watershed within Greentique’s Cloudmaker Nature Reserve.

Traveling from Si Como No to Santa Juana Lodge was a thrill! Our driver was experienced and knowledgeable, pointing out various birds and animals to us along the way. I know I read a previous review that the trip here was a "bit much" because of the topography, but that's what

Our family had a wonderful time here over the holidays. There is wi-fi in the main dining area and you can borrow DVDs for the in-room TVs, but there is not a lot nearby so this is more of an “unplug and relax” destination. A long walk or short drive will take you to some

With only seven rooms to stay in Santa Juana feels more like staying at a friends house then a hotel. Run buy the families that live in town and tucked WAY into the mountains there’s no better way to relax. The rooms are essentially lofts, each with a deck, two chairs and

Dear TabiN88 What a wonderful review. Thank you for taking your time and sharing all these beautiful experiences lived in our piece of heaven. The best of Costa Rica is not only our beaches, volcanoes or forest, the best is our "way to live", this Costa Rican experience that you had found at our place, managed 100% by people who grew up in Santa Juana town. Thank you as well for paying attention to those small details like flowers, mosquitoes or cicadas, normally people use them to complain about instead of understanding they are necessary to keep the balance in the forest. Please come back anytime, we will be here for you! Greentique Hotels Costa Rica.

We loved the concept so much. Boutique eco lodge with only very few casitas ensures complete privacy and adds personal touch to your stay. Fresh meals from local ingredients taste so good! Toucans singing on the tree next to your casita every morning made us scream from joy. The

Unfortunately no, we did not see any monkeys or other animals directly from the rooms. We took a long hike with Allen one day and he pointed out many animals in the woods. No monkeys though. From the room, the view was more of an amazing panoramic overlook of forest and hills and countryside, with the sun coming up on one side and down on the other. Fifteen minutes gazing at it and we were completely refreshed. But no monkeys. Too far away. Earlier in our trip we had stayed in the jungle (Osa peninsula), where we were surrounded by monkeys and wild animals galore, even growling near our beds at night. Exciting, but not so peaceful! So we really appreciated the transition to tranquility and heavenly surroundings of Santa Juana afterward.

Hello Kelly H Thank you for your question. We offer private transportation from San Jose airport to our place for $240. It takes about 4 hours. The other option is to take another kind of transportation from the airport to Quepos and from here we offer some 4x4 vehicles for $60 one way. Please let us know to help you. "All the casitas are identical, except the Laurel which is new and has a different layout: 2 bedrooms, one with bunk beds."
"We stayed in the Amistad room, it is a more rustic than the other cabins, but off by itself in a private location with a wonderful view."
"Casita nearest the dining room (Alegria) had a fantastic view and probably the most privacy."
"If you want a real Costa Rican experience and not a "tourist" experience - Stay Here!"
