I stayed here for two nights and found it a very comfortable and clean place to stay. Comfy enough beds and the staff helped me out with everything I needed, including calling taxis for me and advising on the best bus station to go to for my next destination. Fully functioning kitchen and I could walk into town. It also...

For the price, Aldea is unbeatable - the location is awesome, wifi always works, the people are incredible and Emir's restaurant is great. The AM coffee and outdoor kitchen/gathering spot is fantastic. Laundry and Tour Guide service great too! My 3 year old loves Room 103 the most - we have 3 beds, including bunk beds and a private bathroom...

My mother and I were on our way back from a week trip in Puerto Viejo and only stayed a night in San Jose, but we wished we could have stayed longer just because of our experience in this hostel. The staff was super friendly, helpful and accommodating; the building itself is old, beautiful and filled with flowers painted on...

Great hostel with really comfy beds in a lovely restored building. Close to bus stations to Nica and Cauhita which was handy. 10 minute walk to the start of the main part of the city. The male staff weren't that friendly though and most of our questions seemed like an inconvenience to respond to. The attached restaurant is great though...

I stayed in a private room after arriving in San Jose and two weeks later on my way out. Both nights were nice and quiet, clean rooms, lots of friendly people and helpful staff. The restaurant is very good, my room had a shower and bathroom and tv, wifi. Good area for wandering around and staying safe. Happy travels!

we stayed here for 3 nights at one of the double rooms. staff were nice and friendly and even subsequently asked if we wanted to change room as it was noisy (close to the front door) but we had unpacked our staff and were not bothered too much with the noise. we checked in really early (6-7am) and then subsequently...

My room was clean and comfy. Shower was in the room -- a dorm room for 6. Lobbies are well appointed. Staff was super helpful. Just a block or so away from buses to everywhere in San Jose, or so it seemed. I was even able to walk to TicaBus to take the bus to Panama -- a bonus! Close...

Friendly staff. Reasonable price. However, one cannot bring their friends over just to visit, without paying. Their friends would need to pay as well. I was hanging out with my friends who are staying at the hostel, and I was told that I had to leave.

I stayed in Aldea Hostel while attending a conference at a hotel down the road, so I didn't spend much time in the hostel outside of sleeping hours. It was extremely affordable (I stayed for five nights for around $200 USD) and relatively clean. I did find a cockroach in my bathroom on one of my final nights, but that's...

This was a great stopover where we could park the car, use the kitchen (though it's sparce), enjoy a hot shower and a clean bed yet be close to the city. Not glamorous but value for money.
