Casa Abierta is one of the great finds of San Jose! Darrylle was an incredible host (warm, fascinating, helpful, open-minded, generous...the list goes on), the food was delicious, and the accommodations were beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We found ourselves unexpectedly spending an entire day of our vacation just relaxing in the house and garden for a personal day of R&R...

Actually, Casa Abierta is much more than a B&B. Darrylle is a charming host and Maria keeps the place exceptionally clean and is part of the group that makes a most extraordinary breakfast. Bill is a great help in the "mix" (he makes an amazing strudel) and is a warm and gracious person who we hope will remain a friend....

Staying at Casa Abierta was very pleasant. Tidy rooms arranged with fresh flowers. Very clean bathroom. Great location just 15-20 minutes walk to the downtown and just 3 blocks away from the 33rd street with tons of restaurants and tasty foods. Fantastic breakfast and incredibly interesting host.

We love, love, LOVED staying at Casa Abierta. Darrylle is so kind, so open, so welcoming. We really felt at home. In fact, when we left San Jose to go to Manuel Antonio we missed staying at Casa Abierta. Casa Abierta is beautiful, clean, luxurious, and makes you feel comfortable, like you are at home. The house is located somewhere...

While we only had the pleasure of staying at Casa Abierta for one magical evening / day, it left a lasting impression. We were greeted warmly at the airport and had the opportunity to get to know Darrylle, what brought him to this corner of the world and different views on life to broaden perspective; just what travel is all...
