The hotel was comfortable. The hotel staff were accommodating and very helpful. The hotel is also close to barrio escalante, where there are a lot of restaurants to eat at. The hotel is very secure. You leave your key when you leave the hotel, and you can only enter by ringing the bell at the front door.
Nice enough hotel. Close to city center & bars and restaurants. However, they wanted to charge me extra for air conditioning in a room that didn't even have a ceiling fan. A very humid night followed.
They’re so amazing and accommodating! I will definitely be back! You can get breakfast for an additional fee which isn’t much and everyone is so kind. It’s close to loads of restaurants and supermarkets
I personally have not stayed at this hotel so I cannot comment on the facilities or anything else related to the hotel, however, I can comment on the customer service. My girlfriend stayed at this hotel as part of her tour around Costa Rica and was away for Valentines Day. I wanted to surprise her with a bouquet but cannot speak a word of Spanish. I got in touch with the hotel and Sandra was so helpful and provided nearby florists she would recommend as well as volunteering to collect the bouquet when ready and also add some sweet treats to accompany my bouquet free of charge. She went above and beyond for me and my girlfriend so if this is the level of service then I would be more than happy to stay at this hotel when I visit San Jose!
We were booked with Gadventures for 2 nights upon arrival in San Jose. The room was on the main floor. It was old, dirty, tiny and had 2 cots with thin mattresses. We were appalled. We also spent the last night of our adventure here before flying home. After much complaining, we received a decent room on the second floor. The staff is very nice and helpful but it doesn't make up for the crappy room upon arrival. We didn't eat breakfast here thinking the kitchen is likely not clean either. I would never choose to stay here.
Room 4 had no windows and no AC but the fan was enough. The front desk staff were very helpful. Gave very accurate direction to eaters and stores etc. A few hundred yards from an area packed with restaurants
This hotel feels like a homey auberge or inn. The rooms are largely different (I have now stayed in three), comfortable and clean, set in a higgly piggly design. Staff let you in and out, so you feel secure in a place that, for all its love of rice and beans, encloses its homes with fences and gates. Most important? The staff is incredibly attentive and helpful.
Positives: Hotel very clean, staff friendly, good selections for breakfast. Many restaurants within walking distance as well as a grocery store. Main market is about a 20 mins walk. Negatives: Have to be let in and out of the hotel by staff. Would have been nice to be able to just buzz ourselves out.
This is by no means a luxury hotel and definitely has a hostel feel to it but I honestly can’t fault it. The rooms were spacious and felt clean and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. It’s in a really nice area of San Jose within walking distance of some great restaurants. There is some building work going on nearby and it’s on a main road so not the quietest but you’d struggle to find somewhere that is especially within this price range. I’d stay again.
Our Intrepid tour guide in San Jose tells us it is perfectly safe yet our hotel can only be entered and exited if the concierge unlocks the door for you. The hotel is basic. Breakfast is meagre. You have to choose what you want the night before and tell them what time you want it. There is no buffet - no extras and coffee is dispensed from a pump thermos. The location on a main road, close to a train line means that it is very noisy and it is a good 30 minutes walk into the central area on poor roads/intermittent pavements and passing property with razor wire security. It doesn't feel safe at all.
